It is like Rax/Telos where you can't just chill around and another spawns, so I assume it's do or die.
Nope! You are free to teleport out at any point.

This is awesome! It put a smile on my face seeing the lore introduced with Archaeology make its way into this.
I added quintessence to the site drop table for Stormguard Citadel earlier this week which means tetracompass caskets and research will award this material once it's live. I believe the job is with QA.
This was brought to our attention this morning and it's something we're looking to discuss as there are positives and negatives to this sort of achievement.
To note, we intentionally didn't add an 'Unlock all' achievement for relic powers as the system was designed to support tradeable relics in the future (e.g. relic drop from a boss) which has some conflicts with the achievement.
If you take the example mentioned, it would be similar to an achievement that requires you to have unlocked all prayers/curses which would include those from Nex AoD.
As for the researchers, that sounds like something we could/should add.
Noted, thanks!
We've actually made some changes to various areas throughout Stormguard.
One of those is cutting that pillar in half that you see in the centre, so that you have a better camera angle of all the hotspots down there.
Hopefully these will help, but we'll continue to monitor after those go live and make any additional changes if needed!
So if you had 40/40/37 of each item from a spot, and used fixate to bring it to 40/40/40, and then got 5 artefacts from somewhere else, it would effectively reset your "history" at the original spot?
That would help keep log numbers even as you could bring things back into line and then start again fresh.
Yep, you could do that.
Is the tracking 5 artifacts only considering artifacts at that excavation or your last 5 among all archaeology?
It's the 5 that you recently discovered from excavation in general.
E.g. Venator dagger, Venator dagger, Praetorian staff, Praetorian staff, Praetorian staff (2 different excavations)
Sweet, guessing I just couldn't see it because I don't have the outfit yet.
Yep! It's hidden if you're not wearing the outfit.
Hi, does waterfiend and fortune perk duplicates also add to it?
Artefacts from external sources (like those you mention) are not added to the tracking.
E.g. If you discover a venator dagger, and your waterfiend gives you another. We only track that you've discovered 1.
Challenge accepted!
LET'S GET IT
That was a fast reply! Is there an eta on it now that it was redone? Maybe next Monday?
That's the aim!
There were a couple of issues with it so the job got sent back to me which meant we couldn't get it in this weeks release.
How does one activate fixate? I don't seem to have any right-click options on my master outfit
It's listed in the skilling section of the magic spellbook (allows you to put it on your action bar).
Looking to get the patch notes updated to state this.
They are currently tracked, yeah.
I can see arguments from both sides of this one though but felt that this was the most appropriate right now.
You'll be pleased to know then that we're adding something else to it!
When we getting a fix on this /u/JagexRyan?
It depends what you consider a 'fix'. It is intentional that you don't get a complete 1:1:1 ratio.
I did however make changes so that we remember the last 5 artefacts that you've discovered (currently we only remember 3) which will help with the 3 artefact excavations. This is set to go live next week.
QOL Update of the year if it's what I'm hoping for.
A clean up of consistency in naming is part of it. You'll notice that some settings are labeled as 'Disable X feature' where a ticked box means it's disabled whereas others are labeled as 'Display X feature' and a ticked box means it's enabled.
By chance does this job fix a lot of the other issues with settings or is it just this particular section? Either way thanks for doing it.
It changes a bunch of other things outside of this section too.
Side note
It seems odd to me we have a "Gathering Skills" category but Mining and Archaeology have their own specific section leaving only one setting in "Gathering Skills" which is fishing. In addition there are other fishing settings tied to "Player Owned Home".
I wish Jagex would get someone to properly fix the settings layout instead of acting like there's nothing wrong.
This has actually been changed in a separate job. The gathering skills category is no more, and instead a Fishing category has been created. I believe the 'Player Owned Home' category is being replaced with Construction too.
The other job has a bunch of changes to various settings so it requires a lot more testing.
