Hey folks,

We made sure to test this before we head into the Easter weekend and the scoring is working as intended.

To clarify about how the score is calculated:

(Base Miles * Pathfinder bonus) - (Miles Lost * Pathfinder bonus) = Miles awarded

Example from one of the tests we did:

Base miles were 75 on the Journey Map x 3 Pathfinder Bonus = 225 Miles
11 Turns were taken so 1 x 3 Pathfinder = 3 Miles
225 Miles - 3 Miles = 222 Miles
222 Miles is what appeared on the reward screen.

We manually counted turns and extra turns taken both by the player and the opponent on a notepad.
We then compared these numbers to what was logged on the game server to make sure the logged numbers were correct.

This is the way the Journey Scoring has always been calculated.

I know you’ve been waiting a long time for this and I will follow up, but priority order will be things that affect core gameplay closest > things that affect core gameplay least (generally speaking, there’s lots of reasons for exceptions to this and other factors to consider).

I don’t personally have the stats about engagement rates with the PVP rework, but anything affecting that engagement rate, as you’ve suggested, as general but critical feedback about a core game mode is going to generally take priority over very specific endgame collection feedback.

If anyone else has this issue, next time it happens can you please follow these steps and let me know if it works? If these steps work then it might tell us if there’s possibly something wrong with the way the game handles specific issues in rare cases vs it being caused by something outside our control:

  1. Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Select Network.
  4. Select Network Settings
  5. Select Advanced Settings
  6. Select Alternate MAC Address
  7. Select Clear

I’m checking with the team if there is anything we can do about this, it seems purely like a tech issue on the console though so I don’t think there’s anything we can do to the game itself to prevent this.

I’ll double check the help center says to unplug from the wall in the Xbox troubleshooting as well.

Hey all,

Just an update on PVP stuff:

The current first priority is investigating a couple of issues:

  1. When PVP opponents are refreshed, only the first opponent is refreshed
  2. Reviewing the code that is meant to favor showing 3 different teams in your opponent selection, due to the reports of seeing 3 of the same team.

Once those 2 things have been looked into we will then move onto looking at the 2 highest priority pieces of feedback:

  1. Opponent Team variety
  2. Clear easy > normal > hard opponent selections

The reason we’re looking at the 2 issues first is because they will affect these 2 points of feedback as well. We think these 2 points of feedback will have the biggest impact for the most amount of players. We are still looking at the other feedback as well but we have to start somewhere :slight_smile:...

Hey folks,

I’m continuing to put forward the Journey feedback to the team.
They are making small changes currently and watching how it affects things.
I’ve communicated more/different changes would be needed to address the core issue posed by the feedback we’ve received.

My sense of the core of the issue is 2 things:

  1. Since Pathfinders were rebalanced it’s more difficult to progress through Journey, which was already difficult. (This is the part of the feedback the level changes are aimed at)

  2. The more you progress into the event, the more effort you have to put in and the more penalised you get on the scoring. Basically it would feel better if the more effort you put in the more you were rewarded.

On the other side of the coin, it should not be easy to complete Reward stage 16 and it will require more participation from more guild members than just Reward stage 12. But you all know that.

Just to clarify:

Fleeing battlecrashers like Gnomes and Valravens should not drop their loot.
But Troops who flee because of the Terror status effect count as defeated Troops and used to drop their loot before this other bug was fixed.

So I’ve reported that battlecrashers who flee because of the Terror status effect don’t drop loot and am waiting for a follow up.

Just correcting this so no one gets the wrong idea - Guild Wars is NOT indefinitely suspended.
We hope to start running it again late this year. Exact date to be confirmed.

With the amount of Troops, Weapons and Pets to collect and content to play through we are not concerned about new players missing out on Guild Wars specific Troops under this timeline.

Ah, yes! That’s correct, the code tries to select 3 opponents who have teams that are different from each other - what the attacker is using isn’t factored in :slight_smile:

Just responding to the feedback here as Bramble already commented on keeping it civil.
Also just want to add, don’t shoot down people who have an opinion differing from your own. It’s healthy to discuss a variety of opinions in a respectful way. We don’t want the forum to be an echo chamber.

PVP is Player vs Player. It wouldn’t make sense to attach a player’s name to a team that isn’t their own. We absolutely have no plans to remove PVP from the game. We’ve been putting a lot of time into reworking PVP into something cool.

You can want more PvE without removing PVP. Both things can exist in separate game modes.

The main issues are these:

  • PVP is currently quite punishing, it should be challenging but not punishing.

No? Because that team might show up in one of the opponent slots but not all 3, so the attacker would have more options. Also this code doesn’t restrict which team you use as an attacker, so if you want to use that team you still can, it just means you will show up less as someone else’s opponent which doesn’t impact your own gameplay.
