A few questions:

Were you shooting HE or AP at the Daring?

Why did you attempt to shoot the superstructure of the Daring and not the hull?

Do you happen to have a replay of the match in question?

A few questions:

Have you used your coal for anything else previously?


Do you have a collection that you need some parts of?

My suggestion would be to build up your coal until you know what you want to get with it. You don't have to spend it and it will keep accumulating while you play the game. There are many different items you can get in the armory including: ships, flags and containers.

The players on the forums will also be glad to help give you suggestions but in the end it is your coal to spend =).

Commander Skills!

Hey Captains,

The next topic we will cover in the guide is the all important Commander Skills! Players have questions everyday regarding captain skills and this is a good thing! This is a great topic that we can all have some input on and give suggestions to our fellow players that might help them improve their choices in commander skills. We will also cover Elite captain XP and what it is used for. We will also cover re-training of commanders and what is the best method to use when you are moving captains to a different ship. We also put a "cross" across skills that are not recommended for that ship class.

We will cover only the skills that are relevant to surface ships in this guide. A Separate CV guide will be coming in the future.

Hey The_Ice_Cream_Man,

The Monaghan has always had two different hull options since release:

A Hull (standard hull) - 4x1 127mm guns and the 6.4km torpedoes like the Farragut.

B Hull (upgraded hull) - 2x1 127mm guns (2 are removed and replaced with more AA). You also get to mount the 2x5 configuration "Benson" torpedoes. These torpedoes have 9.2km range and more damage but go 55 knots.

These 2 hulls have been the options on the Monaghan since release.

We are happy to hear that you are a new player to World of Warships!

Here are some beginning tips:

You have to determine what kind of ships you want to play. This is harder than it looks and can take some time. Don't worry about your stats right off the bat but worry about learning the basics of the game.


Start off playing PVE until you are comfortable enough to try a PVP game. The difference between bots and players is significant and will offer new challenges.


When it comes to what ships you want to aim for, I would suggest trying multiple different lines before you settle on a couple to grind. I would suggest USN BBs and IJN cruisers as a good starting point but by no means do you have to try those.

Make sure you ask questions, there are a lot of experienced players on the forums that will be glad to help you!

Now that the Lenin has been out for a few days what are your thoughts? How would best recommend playing the Lenin?

I have found the Lenin to be a fun ship to push a cap with, when you have a cruiser in support. The arrangement of the turrets and the bow armor really help mitigate some of the damage you will take.

We appreciate that! Trust me there have been days when I have done everything I could in a match and it still ends in a loss. Some days are just not your day and it is easier to take a break, reset mentally and try again.

Hey KilljoyCutter,

Some good news for fans of co-op and training room combat is the addition of aircraft carrier bots in these modes. However, bots will not yet be making an appearance in Scenario mode. The bots will first need to be “taught” how to execute the unique actions that occur in this game mode.

We have not stated when CVs will brought back to co-op, just they are coming at some point. This was the statement from the latest Developer Blog. Please keep an eye out for future announcements on this!

As other captains have pointed out you are in luck! The newest map that we will be adding to the game Greece was on the Public Test Server over the weekend.

There was also changes announced to the map: Trap that are coming up.

I am not sure what you are asking but if you are referring to like different servers (PT and Live). Ranked battles are currently on the Public Test Server but will be coming to the Live Server with the update. If you are referring to which regional server you are on, if you are on the NA server that is the server you will be playing ranked on.

Regarding the OP post, that is an incredible run of bad luck. After the first few losses what compelled you to keep grinding the same ship and not switching it up for a bit?

My tips when you hit that loss streak:

First and foremost, if a loss streak reaches 3 games, take a break for a bit and refocus.


Never chase the win. We all have struggled through wins/losses but if you keep chasing more wins when you are tilted, this will lead to more losses.


If you lose a few games in a certain ship, switch it up and try a different ship (if you aren't going to take a break).


Play with clan mates and division when you are grinding ships.

In the end it is random battles and sometimes it does not go your way. We have all gone through great winning streaks and awful losing streaks.

If you have the choice, radar. Radar will almost always come in handy at some point during a match, while fighter planes can be quite situational.
