Update: I managed to test a different PC today and the problem still existed on that PC, even if I switched accounts.

I think this is something you need to pass on to the devs if possible so it can be fixed in the next patch!

This is a real headscratcher.
Can you send me a dxdiag of your machine (direct message because it can contain a bit of personal info)? Just type "dxdiag" in the windows searchbar, run that application, and then click "save all information" and send me that file.
(BTW I am "the devs" so don't worry, it's been passed on :-) )
Also, I just checked the file and now it is changing the X/Y resolution sizes in the GameUserSettings file, it is changing them to this
I tried changing the resolution to 1920x1080 in the file again but it did nothing.
What is weird is that I have actually disabled the full-screen scaling option in NVIDIA control panel and I even tried disabling the GPU and it still does the same thing.

You might need to try it on your VAL shortcut, as well as on the game EXE
Update: My friend sent me his GameUserSettings file and it still did the exact same thing, stretched to an unrealistic resolution.
It seems like it's a bug in the game itself, I hope it gets fixed next patch.
EDIT: What do I need to change in the GameUserSettings file to force the game to open fullscreen windowed?
I don't recall exactly, but I believe it should be
"FullscreenWindowMode=2"
Just tested. Once again 100% reproducible by being tabbed out while loading into the match.
Edit: While I'm at it. Bound key for team push to talk gets unbound on relaunch and crosshair color keeps resetting to white.

I reinstalled Valorant onto a different drive, deleted all traces of Valorant from the PC before I did and it still does the same thing :/
Can you make sure that your graphics drivers are up to date?
If your monitor has drivers (uncommon), can you also check that your monitor's drivers are up to date?
Can you try unplugging one of your monitors and seeing if it works?
Does it go into this stretched fullscreen on both of your monitors?

Thank you for your reply. As of right now, I no longer experience these crashes and freezes. Yesterday I installed extra 4gb of RAM - 4gb to 8gb ( Don't know if that has to do anything with this problem). I decided to give Valorant another try and for some reason, it made me have to install Vanguard again. I install it, reboot my computer, start Valorant and it didn't freeze or crash. I am finally able to play. Unfortunately, since I no longer have this problem, I can't create a dump 🙁.

Very odd. For some reason you're getting these massive, garbage values for X/Y resolution size.
Can you try making another account and logging in with that to see if it uses normal values?

• Description: Today I tried to start Valorant, and instead of the game actually starting my whole computer froze, in a way it has never happened before. I couldn't move the cursor, CTRL+ALT+DEL wasn't working, at this moment I was in a discord call with my friends and the audio of my friend talking froze too into a repeating ear-tearing sound. I had to manually shut down my computer which I never have to do. After this I started my computer again and tried to launch it, instead of the client starting or anything the game just didn't want to even start. I checked the resource monitor for my computer and Valorant was automatically closing when I tried to start it up. I am afraid that this crash that happened to my computer was caused by riot's anti-cheat system, Riot Vanguard and I really don't know what to do to prevent this from happening in the future and how can I even launc...
Thanks for the report! Thanks to your crash log, I was able to identify that your particular crash was slipping through our detection. Now I've got that fixed up and we're investigating.
For anyone else encountering this issue, reinstalling the game could fix the issue.
Same issue here. Also 100% reproduction rate. Happened in 600 seconds log in queue, in collection menu as well as in practice range.
Frames drop to only few and whole PC freezes for around a minute, after which I get critical error message. Choices I make in error message have no impact also.
Same as above - can you send me the crash dump file that's generated after you press "yes" on the critical error prompt?

Thanks for the report! Can you click "yes" on that option, and then grab me the crash dump that it generates? It should prompt you with a message asking "do you want to copy this path to your clipboard?" after generating the crash dump, so you can find it there. You'll need to upload somewhere like Google Drive, as it will be a large file.
If you zip the file up first, it will be a lot smaller and easier to upload.
I don't have a file called WindowsClient, but I do have a folder called Windows but the only file in that folder is called "RiotLocalMachine".
This is my Valorant folder, the GameUserSettings folder is inside the "294139cf-a4e3-55c4-bc9f-1fbe1d4126a1" folder.
I could not find another instance of GameUserSettings in the other folders OR a .cfgi file called "config".
I changed the numbers to 1920x1080 but it did nothing.
Interesting. After you've launched, if you go to open the same file again, is it shown as 1920x1080?

I have no clue how you ended up with your settings in that state, but it seems suspicious.
Both are native 1920x1080, they are both set to 1920x1080 in Nvidia control panel.
Since release I have never been able to swap to fullscreen, it just shows a massively stretched screen if i try that I cannot see anything with as seen in the video.
Here's a screenshot of my GameUserSettings when I take it off of read only and launch Valorant.
I have to put the GameUserSettings file on read only if I want to launch the game in fullscreen windowed, but even if I change the resolution to 1920x1080 in the config file and launch it on read only the resolution STILL switches to that awful stretched one.
I don't believe I am using DSR but i'm not sure how I would check that.
