Because COVID-19 is keeping millions of people around the world indoors, we wanted to do a little something to help make social distancing a little more tolerable.

To that end, we are making changes to the Magic: The Gathering Arena event schedule beginning on Thursday, March 19 to give you more ways to play Magic from the comfort and safety of your home:

  • The Brawlers' Guildhall event for March will have no entry fee and will be available March 19–April 16.

  • Theros Beyond Death Ranked Draft will be available March 19–April 16 in addition to our regular bi-weekly rotating Ranked Draft event.

These changes are scheduled to go live on March 19 at approximately 8 a.m. PT.

Stay safe, wash your hands, and try to avoid becoming too stir-crazy as you’re cooped up in your house for the time being. We’re continuing to explore ways to make it easier for you to keep in contact with players from ...

The March game update is sure to put a spring in your steps and phases with new cards, new features, new events, and new ways to interact with your fellow players.

Nice? Nice.

HISTORIC ANTHOLOGY II

In case you missed it last week, we announced that we'll be adding 25 cards to MTG Arena as part of Historic Anthology II.

With Historic Anthology I, our primary goal was to open up the options for Historic decks to start bringing the greater breadth that a nonrotating format should support. We felt like this landed fairly well, with cards like ...

Note: This was a data only deployment. Players will not need to update their client as a part of this maintenance.

Patch Notes

  • Various updates and changes to the Theros Beyond Death bot priority.

Bug Fixes

  • Gitrog Monster is now playable in Traditional Historic (best-of-three) events and play queues.
  • The Championship Trophy should no longer disappear from player inventories after redeeming the [[80560,hashtags]] code

The Rotting Regisaur card style is listed for an incorrect price when purchasing it through the Deck Builder. As a result, the Daily Deal price of 750 gems appears incorrect as well.

  • The price in the Deck Builder should be 1,000 gems (the standard cost for rare card styles), not 600 gems.
  • Players who purchase the Rotting Regisaur card style through the February 17 Daily Deal will be automatically reimbursed 150 gems to match the currently displayed price in the deck builder.
  • We are working with our support team to identify the players affected by this price discrepancy. Players do not have to contact support to receive the reimbursement.
  • The deck builder price will be corrected in a future game update, however the Rotting Regisaur card style will be available for 600 gems until that time.

We apologize for the confusion and inconvenience.

We have recently taken action against players for in-game misconduct related to abusing the timer system (“roping”). In addition to player reports, we also looked at multiple data points over an extended period of time to help us identify which players we believe were deliberately misusing this system before taking action against their account.

The timer system is an important feature in Magic: The Gathering Arena and is designed to allow for additional time to handle complex board states or the occasional real-world disruption. We intend for players to use their timeouts as necessary while also ensuring matches come to a timely conclusion. We were careful to only act against players who we can conclusively prove deliberately and consistently abused this feature.

Players will be notified through email if they were flagged for misconduct, as well as what actions were taken against their account.

Thank you to all of our players for their reports, as w...

As we celebrate the release of Theros Beyond Death and the upcoming Magic World Championship, the February game update brings a variety of ways for you to experience Magic: The Gathering Arena.

MAGIC WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP XXVI

Sixteen players. $1,000,000 in prizes. In a little over a week's time, the best Magic players in the world will travel to Honolulu, Hawaii to compete for the title of Magic World Champion. And, this year, they'll be competing on MTG Arena.

To support the Draft portion of the event, we've added the option for players to Direct Challenge each other in a Limited Tournament Match that will follow the same rules as other Best-of-Three Draft formats in MTG Arena. Players also have the option to choose a 40-card deck as one of the options for other Direct Challenge matches, where you can play around with options like timers and who goes first.

Direct Challenge...
