It'll be live for longer than 1 month. I'm very much hoping we get to bring it back reasonably soon too, but that's going to depend on whether people like it and keep playing it or not

I have no doubt that it could be balanced. I just hope its prioritized more than past permanent game modes. That's the main concern. Its a different Riot from back then, so hopefully that will be different.
One of the major problems with past game modes (mostly temporary ones) is that there's very little incentive to play beyond novelty, so once that wore off, the modes were practically abandoned. If the game mode drops off after a month, are there plans to add incentivizes to playing the mode beyond novelty? Adding forms of depth/progression, as an example.
This mode will be launching with a rating system (very similar to the one Double Up in TFT uses), which we think should be a meaningful part of supporting longer term sustained engagement. Also expecting we'll do more frequent, responsive balance changes than some modes would do, given while this isn't meant to be as competitive as SR is it's still a more competitive and therefore balance sensitive experience than most of our other game modes
Any word on how the queue is going to work for this? Is it only going to be a 2-person queue or could we queue as 8 & have teams randomly decided?
On initial launch at least it'll just be teams of 2. We'd like to add queueing as 8, but won't have it initially though

That's the intent. Being realistic, balance will probably be off for some champions, maybe some classes even day 1. Will patch or potentially hotfix as needed

It's not a free for all all at once, but a series of 2v2 matches! Think like a tournament structure
I have heavy doubts that it will be a permanently viable mode without a competitive queue.
If they design it solely for casual play, a ton of the playerbase will play for a week or two and then drop it. Just like Nexus blitz.
It doesn't get much better than Nexus Blitz imo and that did not pass the test. The only exception by Riot's own standard is ARAM and it wasn't even a mode they really designed. It was a community made game mode.

We’re going to try and deliver the mode with as much polish as we can manage, but you might see a few more cracks than you’re used to. And if you like it, you can expect to see it again in the future with improvements.
"see it again in the future" implies to me that it will be rotating out, and later potentially back in.
Current plan is for a longer than usual run (more than two patches). Things like when it comes back, how frequently, for how long etc will be based off how popular it is, in particular how well play rate maintains over the course of its run

Emerald will be added at the same time as the ranked reset in July, so people will go through placements again (shorter this time) rather than getting moved around within the tiers when it's added

Our thinking is that in a less serious context like for the 2v2v2v2 mode, that doesn't have the same permanence or history, that embracing the meme nature of Wood should be fine. We'll see of course, but feels meaningfully different to us than the context with the standard ranked system

We're looking at a rating system similar to the one HyperRoll in TFT uses, so not the default ranked system but something that serves a fairly similar (though not quite as sweaty on average) purpose

Oh for sure. It's not just a champ's gender though, but their personality, how their kit would tie in with a theme etc too that will determine fit.
Weird spot to ask, but I saw WR getting a new elemental drake (ice). Haven't seen its effect yet, but is the team on PC also considering new drakes as well? This isn't me asking for or against the new drakes, just wanted to know the position of the team.
If the ice drake goes well for WR we'd be open to adding it to LoL PC as well at some point. Adding additional drakes isn't one of our higher priorities at present for preseason/large gameplay update work though, we think other issues are more pressing gameplay wise
Okay, so one Question: Will the non-SR Clashes be on some other maps (Like Nexus Blitz or TT [I know you're hiding it somewhere]) or only ARAM?
We're considering options beyond ARAM yeah if there's a game mode available that Clash could make sense on. Can't promise anything, but open to it and discussing future possibilities certainly
