https://steamcommunity.com/app/548430/discussions/1/3374780959391806780/

from what im gathering from the steam guide the game uses fxaa default and this guide makes the game use TAA. But anyways when i use these new anti-aliasing settings it completely removes all the artifacts that the ambient occlusion causes. So maybe it couldn be fixed from just making that the new in game anti-aliasing? Or are there issues with switching to this method i dont know about?

Hmm, interesting! As far as I know, using FXAA rather than TAA is that FXAA is a LOT cheaper. But, if it's an option, I see no reason not to support both and leave the choice up to the players.

I'll send this on to our programmers, maybe there's something we can use from this. No promises, but I'll see what we can do. Thank you! :)

Sadly, what we're seeing here is artefacts caused by the way Unreal handles Ambient Occlusion and the way we use it. It's resolution dependent, so lowering the resolution will increase the visibility of the problem. I hope to get some time to look into the postfx in general soon, but this particular issue is more on Unreal's shoulders than on ours.

Look out for helmets with blinking lights lying around in the caves here and there. They'll get you started.

It's really frustrating to me that "just unlock it again" is the response, especially when the Gunner has fewer Paintjobs by default compared to the other classes. If players had access to it previously, I feel that they should continue to have access to it under the new system.

Edit: The previously missing Paintjob is now available, so disregard that part.

If you are referring to the missing Mastery Paintjob for Gunner, that was a bug which I believe has been hotfixed already. He is of course supposed to have the same amount of Paintjobs as the other classes.

Definitely possible, but likely not for the moment. Right now we are focused on getting the entire game ship-shape for launch.

We added the Class Colors to the Gold Armors specfically because of the amount of complaints we were getting because of the lack of it. So at least to some people, it was indeed broken.

Comment

The reason the armors look strange to you: We have introduced Paintjobs for all armors with Update 29, just like we did for Weapons. Keep doing missions, you will eventually find all the old Paintjobs, as well as a lot of new ones.

If only. xD Nah, simple oversight. The system didn't cap properly, and so didn't know what to show when at a level above what it had images for.

Good thing that's exactly what the new system allows then. :)

I'm guessing that's been moved to a color palette you can find in missions. They made everyone have a default shared across all armors based on the starting armor, but undoubtedly they're not going to just toss out good palettes they've already made.

I'm looking forward to the possibility of using that old palette on the other armors. :)

Yep, that's exactly what we've done. All the old ones are in there to be found, alongside brand new ones.

That's the point of the whole Paintjob system, folks! Despair not, all the old Paintjobs are still there - not to mention a ton of brand new ones - you'll just have to find and unlock them through the new Lost Pack events.

And since it's all Paintjobs now, any Paintjob you own can be applied to any armor for that specific class.

The error's on our end, not yours. It'll be fixed in next Hotfix.

Yeah, the push includes pickaxe parts, so you haven't missed out on anything.

I really really hope that all paintjobs have some trace of the original 4 colors - driller yellow, engi red ect. It always saddens me when games throw color design to the wind in the quest to make a diverse set of cosmetics. That's just my vote, but im sure you are really far along on paintjobs anyways. : /

We agree. We ended up scrapping the Promotion skins that ignored the class colors until we get some time to do it properly.

In fairness, we've had this in our plans since forever, and were actively working on it weeks before the suggestion landed here. But it still never gets old having a feature suggested that you're working on already. :D
