From the beginning of the announcement of ICARUS, the New Frontiers expansion was always going to be paid for. In fact, Supporters Edition customer have already purchased the New Frontiers expansion and the Dangerous Horizons expansion. So it is actually the opposite, if we gave away the New Frontiers expansion not only would we not be able to afford that, but we would be doing a great disservice (and need to refund) all those customers who purchased it.

What we did do, was make an entire mini-expansion called "Styx", which we gave away for free to all customers who had purchased the game in it's first year.

Additionally, a free major update is coming soon as part of our regular updates (which we have done 90 of so far), that brings even more content, for free, to all parts of the game including the base game.

I understand that you are upset over the discount and/or the price of the expansion - but please note that making up details about New Frontiers ... Read more

Totally understand where you are coming from, but I do I want to be very clear, it is not a "if you don't agree with me", it is this:

If you direct criticism towards or attack an employee, no matter how "legitimate" your criticism, then we will take action. This also extends to moderators, and to developers of other games as well.
This is a hard line stance, and has nothing to do with agreeing with me or not. And that includes products that I do not like, or developers that I do not like. This is simply not the place to discuss concerns with other products. And if you do so, you will be warned, the posts may be deleted, and you may be banned - regardless of the veracity of what you post.

This is a forum to discuss Stationeers, and that includes criticism of Stationeers. But it is not a space to criticize other developers, as much as it is not a space to criticize employees.

I hope that provides some clarity.

Even if the criticism is true, it is very inappropriate for that to occur on another developers forums. Even if people were to be critical of game companies I do not like here, it is just very unprofessional and inappropriate.

I'm okay with, so long as it is done respectfully, criticism of Stationeers here. But criticism of other game developers is unfair and unprofessional for us to wade into.

My purpose of the post, was to highlight the work of developers that I respect. Making games is really hard, especially nowdays as an independent. I have been fortunate to meet many developers and it helps me immensely.

I realize people would rather I didn't lock threads like that, but I cannot tolerate attacking other developers in this forum, in the same way I can't tolerate people attacking our employees.

Respectful criticism of our project is fine, and in many cases, even so far as valued.

All of the rewards can be earned soio or in multiplayer. But you have to be present for the reward to be offered, because it is triggered and recorded on your client.

I personally think it could be yes or no. I would encourage reading some negative reviews, and a few positive ones. Then if convinced, try the game for two hours and refund it if it doesn’t make you want to play it.

We would rather you got a refund than ended up with a game you did not enjoy.

Our developer friends at Geometa who make Stormworks just announced a SPACE DLC! Many on our team (including myself, perhaps especially myself even), love Stormworks and play it a lot. They're a great team and they understand the difficulties around working on games of this nature. Considering checking our their page for the DLC and giving them a wishlist! I will absolutely be trying this out when it launches on 13 October.

I actually know the team at Facepunch quite well.

Note Rust is one of the greatest selling games of all time now. It's a little difficult to compare. Additionally, note that Icarus not even as successful in reach as Conan. While it may be tempting to make comparisons - product reach really can be dramatically different.

Additionally, note that:
* Only the host requires our DLC
* We don't include any DRM
* It is as easy as changing a boolean value in settings to be able to access our content

We made these decisions to not fracture the game base.

Additionally, we promised (and sold) the two major ... Read more

I cannot agree with you more!

They are my *favorite* by far. I have a lot of feedback myself for the team on monday to discuss about improvements to arctic. And we are planning to expand the New Frontiers map, with a special arctic zone being part of that.

I'm going to do some play sessions myself with Arcticus first to make sure it's really special. We didnt really expect the outposts to sell as well as they did, so we are bit surprised. So we will look to do all we can to make sure they get focus as well.

We've "done" it but it's not ready for release yet. It didn't pass testing. Which was unfortunate because it is far and away the coolest one. It will launch once we have fixed it up.

All the outposts have been more popular than we expected, so we will release an update as soon as we can to improve issues with them.

There is a solo talent tree. The quests/missions scale based on player numbers present.

I would recommend reading a few negative reviews, and a few positive ones. Maybe watch some streamers/content creators. If you are not totally convinced, maybe just try the base game for two hours and if not satisfied, you could refund.

Note you can't refund DLC on steam pretty much at all, which is kind of a shame. You might be able to try the game for under 2 hours, and refund it no matter what. Then if you liked it, you could rebuy it using this package:

https://store.steampowered.com/bundle/34431/Icarus_New_Frontiers_Edition/

But that package only works if you *don't* own the base game. But that would allow you to get an additi... Read more

It's a good question actually! I will edit that into the main post.

Yes it is, the experimental branch contains these fixes *and* the performance fixes.

This is an urgent hotfix we are deploying to fix two issues with missions in New Frontiers. Please do read below, we have to be very careful doing hotfixes as we know they are disruptive and steam downloads are occasionally corrupting for some users. We apologize for the inconvenience for triggering these downloads on launch weekend, but we didn't want to wait on these are they are progression blockers for players.

Steam Download Issues causing crashes Over the last two years we have noticed a number of users experiencing crashes related to steam downloads. Sometimes the game files are becoming corrupted when steam downloads the files, and this causes very unstable results ranging from crashes during startup, through to crashing opening chests or other things.

Note that we can't do anything to fix this directly, as it is a mixture of how steam downloads work and sometimes compounded by leftover mod files. We no longer recommend using the "verify files" for solving th... Read more

Very sorry - shouldn't have performance that bad. We have a beta branch called "experimental" that we are trialing some extensive performance and hitching fixes for. Would you be able to try this out and let me know if it improves things for you? Additionally, could you list your system specifications?

I would definitely raise a support ticket with Nvidia about that. That’s most likely a settings issue on their end. Note that GeForce now is a cloud service so we don’t have any control over how their service is configured.

I recommend verifying files, and if that doesn’t work. Uninstall the game, check the steam folder and delete any left over files, and then reinstall.

On the forums here a number of users found steam had resulted in corrupted download of game files, which caused crashes as described.

Hotfix to be delayed to incorporate another fix: ETA 12 hours
There are two known issues with maps, and we have fixes prepared for them but it takes some time for them to build and deploy. Additionally, many users on steam have corruption issues and download speeds mean it can take a long time to update. Therefore we don't want to do two hotfixes at once, instead - we are going to roll both fixes into a build that will deploy tomorrow morning to main branch. We will, however, deploy them immediately when we can to experimental - which also contains the performance fixes we are testing.

This build will be deployed in roughly 12 hours, with the following fixes:
* Fixed 'FRACTURE: MANHUNT' when you kill the boss, the quest step does not complete
* Fixed 'NOMAD: EXPLORATION' if you tell 'Daisy' to wait she will sometimes get stuck and will not move (you can kill her to skip the escort ... Read more

Hotfix may be deployed in the next five to six hours, if so it would trigger a new download

We have identified a blocker bug (meaning: a bug we consider imperative to fix and deploy asap) we want to fix in one of the final NF missions (spoiler: Killing Lava Hunter is not progressing quest) . We have a fix for this and will be mastering a new build. We will need to deploy this to main branch. This will, unfortunately, trigger a download for people which will be problematic for people on slower connections. I will look at making a special branch if people don't want their game to download, and provide more information before a build is deployed.

More to follow.

EDIT: This has been pushed to both the main game branch and experimental beta branch. See post here for more info:
