I didn't say Steam didn't support preload, but Nexon clearly wanted the unencrypt the files beforehand and be able to push updates as needed leading up to launch which this allows them to do. Pre-loading is mostly used when a retail CD key exists, which doesn't in this case.

No very simply the game "released" in the eyes of Steam because they released a package for you to download. That triggers the email.

So this was to pre-download the game and have it ready for Tuesday. All they have to do is flip a switch on the servers to allow people to play.

Yeah I'm not freezing like that anymore. I am getting lower fps in dungeons than my girlfriend who has a waaay worse setup. She's rocking an i3 and a 1650s with better performance oddly enough.

But the game is playable now. :)

I would recommend taking a look at your bios. A lot of people I’ve reported the same thing with higher and gear, but needing bios update that helped.

We pushed an update today for some optimizations, give it a whirl and let us know how it's running now.

For this kind of issue, a dev in the Discord recommended trying the following command in Wayfinder's Steam "Launch Options":

-ExecCmds="r.MaxCharacterRenderSize=0"

This command no longer does anything because we fixed the problem under the hood.

We have an updating coming soon with more graphical toggles.

Ugh. Reading this is making me reconsider flying to a city to see them since they’re not gonna be around me.

Just buy it. You’re doing a good thing by giving your friend who is a new dad a gaming machine!

We have this in discord. It’s really hard to maintain in multiple places, but that’s the best place for all the known issues, currently tracked bugs, and direct dev insight.

We have mentioned it numerous times before the AMA.

The reason is related to co-op play and how that’s handled since you can adjust on the fly as well as an underlining lack of tech that we have for pulling this off at the moment. We’ve heard the feedback and we’re definitely thinking about how we can change when we release.

All the reviews I read on steam says it crashes a lot on SD and is barely playable. Is it true?

Our first patch introduced a Steam Deck crash. We then released 2 patches to mitigate the issue so it only happens in rare circumstances. We have another patch planned early next week that will fix the root cause.

I tried the command, but the first teleport before the dungeon still crashed my deck :( Hopefully you're able to patch it soon, I'll keep checking for updates! Thanks :)

That sounds like a totally unrelated issue to what the problem is with performance. I would submit a bug in our discord.

Now, after calming down and seeing the focus of the developers to make it run on the steam deck updating with fixes…I just purchased it again believing that they will make the steam deck experience worth. Please don’t make me regret 😅
Thanks for the confidence. Please note this patch will reduce those crashes but they can still happen in rare cases. We have a permanent solve for them coming next week. Thanks for your patience.

I do have a request - can we skip the warning on the load screen? maybe after the first time playing, because it's a waste of 10 seconds every time we start up the game
It's compiling shaders in the background.

Looking forward to that permanent fix. Was really pumped to play this while working from home, as the ability to pause makes this ideal for my job.
another optimization patch to reduce these just went out.

Did you try the command above?

We believe we have found one of the root causes of this. We're working on 2 fixes. One is another that will reduce this further, while the second will eliminate it.

In the meantime, you can add the following to your Launch Commands in Steam to help reduce it even more.

-ExecCmds="r.MaxCharacterRenderSize=0"
