Our intention was to release an experimental copy of the macOS Path of Exile client around a week ago, so that community members could test it before its official release tomorrow alongside Heist. A series of last-minute unexpected technical problems meant that we only had this client distributable today. Our new plan is to release this experimental client immediately for feedback from adventurous macOS users, and to officially release on Mac in around a week.

We have put together a macOS version of 3.11.2 (which does not include any Heist content) and have released an installer .dmg file here for Mac users to test. This version will update to and work with Heist tomorrow.

To install it, download and open the .dmg file. Drag the Path of Exile folder into yo...

I imagine it will be outlined along with the other engine updates in the post that Chris has mentioned next week... Remains to be seen if it will suddenly be as fast as the normal launcher, or just less awful.

Before talisman, league mechanics were mostly something you interacted with on a per-zone basis. Warbands/Tempest experimented with mutli-zone mechanics, but Talisman really expanded and solidified it with the talisman upgrade mechanic and the Rigwald fight. Instead of the mechanic basically being <encounter> that gave <loot/xp>, you would now had progress to track (t2 & t3 talismans), a sort of story behind the mechanic, and a boss fight at the end of it.

It was a massive step forward in terms of league design and most leagues since then have had some sort of progress beyond the per-zone encounter.

Indeed. It was the first Generation 2 league.

That was amazing. I am surprised this thread doesn't have more upboats.

Also.... I'm pretty sure Double Corruption is leaving in PoE 2. Chris said it was one of those things on the chopping block before.

This thread makes me think I am going crazy. I didn't actually say that Torment or Double Corruption are going away, right?

So I want to start by saying we'll definitely investigate this and I'm not trying to say it isn't a thing until we have deeply looked into it.

But looking at the trade code myself, this doesn't appear to be possible. It very clearly will only accept trade and move items between players if every item has been validated by the other client specifically confirming that they have "seen" it by moving the mouse cursor over it. There doesn't appear to be any way to slip items in at the last second. I should note that the thing done in the Mathil video does fall within the rules of what a bot could do in trade, but that can't be used for scamming.

The trade code doesn't appear to have changed in a decade and has certainly been under a lot of scrutiny during that time by enterprising players for obvious reasons.

We will absolutely investigate this, and you'll definitely hear if we find anything that needs fixing.

Today we released some new types of Stash Tabs. Despite them selling well, many players had concerns about the direction of how our tabs are going in the future. We have some Stash Tab QoL features in the pipeline that we intended to announce when they were ready, but feel are important to discuss now so that the context of the new tabs makes more sense.

Tab Folders

You'll be able to create tab folders (for free), which can contain other tabs. This lets you easily group related tabs together, hide empty ones you don't want cluttering the list, and so on.

Tab Affinities

You'll be able to tick a checkbox on one of each type of your Currency, Map, Essence, Divination, Fragment, Unique, Delve, Blight, Metamorph and Delirium Tabs, to indicate that that Tab should receive items that are Ctrl+Clicked from the inventory. This intentionally would not work with other items (such as rares you have picked up), as those require a...

Can you provide any more details on this? Which exact maps?

Comment

Did you ctrl-click it into your inventory (and then possibly stash it?)

Comment

You need to use a Disperser

I'll make this clearer on the seed hovers later today.

We post a torrent file in the news the day beforehand (which patches most of the way there).

You can craft infrastructure using Lifeforce at Collectors once they're unlocked in the quest progression.

Comment

Ctrl-Clicking a piece of infrastructure or a plant pulls it up and puts it in your inventory. You can then place it somewhere else.

Comment

I should clarify that this is a very expensive (in terms of lifeforce) endgame thing.

One of the engine improvements we've been working on is Dynamic Particle Culling, where we cull unnecessary instances of particles when there's a lot going on on-screen. The system aims to stay within the specified target frame rate, working in conjunction with Dynamic Resolution. We are experimentally enabling this on a few skills at the launch of Harvest, and will widen the coverage over time so that eventually this feature is enabled on everything appropriate for it. As you can see in this video, it makes a ridiculous difference for builds that spam skills fast.

Uri from Overwolf emailed me earlier this year to ask my thoughts on whether we'd be okay with a potential third-party program. I replied with

"Generally we ban users who run programs that interact with the game client directly (overlays, etc). They're allowed to run/create third party programs that can operate without the game client running, for example ones that process logs from the hard drive. It sounds to me like what is being proposed here would not be allowed, unfortunately."

He replied clarifying some features of the program. My reply was:

I figured it'd be useful to explain some key reasons why we don't encourage people to download external tools:

  • Downloaded tools run on the user's machine and can steal Path of Exile passwords or install malware. While I understand that your tool probably doesn't do this, there's nothing to stop that being the case (for example if your build machines were compromised). We cannot...
