I think it's okay this way. Would be cool if it could give some benefits like moving faster or something when sliding down hills (yes I played too much apex)
We'd like to make sliding speed/length variable based on terrain angle, hopefully we can take a look at it soon.
Is this the bug where the guy is "crouched" in the tank but he's shown as standing to other people?
Might be, but not sure about it. Our QA needs to try to reproduce it before we can fix it.

There is also a issue where the wind noise when dropping in firestorm is twice as loud, and lasts for about 20-30 secs after landing making it impossible to hear enemies. Pretty gamebreaking when it happens.

Haven't seen the first one mentioned before, I'll mention it on the feedback channel. The second one should be tracked already, not sure what the progress is on that.
What about the cases where the server accepts the damage? It's happened to both me (where the dead person killed me) and my friend (where he was the dead person killing people).
If it's the same bug then it's likely to be fixed

It's fixed in the next patch. The thing you see is a mismatch between client and server where the client thinks he's still alive and sends fire info to the server, which rejects the damage since he's dead already.
That's frustrating. Is there no way to hotfix games like is done with most other software? Even if it were just PC?
I'm guessing it cannot be done due to console certification processes?
We're already patching every ~2 weeks which is pretty frequent, and yes console cert processes take time. Server patches can be deployed on request but sadly this is a client side issue.
Yeah this has been in for a while now, but maybe became less rare with this update.
The good news is that we fixed this issue already, it will probably be in the next update.
Can you please look at the desertion bug? For some reason the map sometimes puts a desertion area in the "safe" circle, and it can even happen at the end of the game. My squad went from a sure win (just called in a JB rocket on the last two guys) to a loss when we didn't realize there was a desertion area in the safe circle. The text came in the same time as the firestorm movement text, and in the "heat" of the moment we didn't even notice the turn back notification, and the server killed all three of us to give the other squad an easy win. I found a fix for this issue a week ago, but it will take a while to be patched. Probably not in the upcoming patch but the one after that.
