Some individuals are curious about the world of content moderation, what it entails, and who takes on the task. Now is your chance to get to know one of your community moderators. You may ask anything, except for why someone in the community has been warned or banned. Please be respectful of one and another when discussing. Steam's rules and guidelines still apply in this thread.

Hi, my name is Node. I am a content moderator. I've been content moderating professionally since 2016 on various game hubs on Steam and communities outside of the Steam platform. While the work is challenging and trying at times, I enjoy ensuring that communities stay as safe as possible for others to enjoy.

NOTE: Discussions/questions of why you or someone in the community has been warned or banned are not permitted. Steam's rules and guidelines still apply in this thread.

For clarification: There are 2 test branches.

Public Test Branch, access for everyone. You get the code and instructions on Discord.

Private Test Branch, access only for verified and invited users.

The private testers (called "Protovikings") test major updates under NDA, the public testers can only test "normal" patches.

The folks taking part in the experimental branch submit plenty of negative feedback and are by no means "yes-men".

Like I said if you want to take part, join the Discord. Be a helpful community member, and you could possibly receive an invite. But, unfortunately, the branch is not available on Steam, nor is it available for download.

Such a branch exists, but you have to join Discord and be a good community member.

This is an early access game, you purchase it so that you get to be a tester of new features and give positive or negative feedback along with suggestions for new things. So it should really be expected that sometimes things will be released that you don't love. You give feedback on why it doesn't work and the developers look at it and see if it's valid & a change would benefit the game overall.

Re-balancing new mechanics are part of that cycle.

I like the idea, perhaps you could make a suggestion post in the Suggestions forum for that :)

Graphics card drivers updated? I'm sure you did but I'd kick myself if I didn't mention it and it turned out to be that lol

Have you tried running it in Windowed mode?
- Right-click the game in your library and select Properties.
- Go to the General tab and click on Set launch options.
- Type -windowed -noborder in the field.
- Click the OK button and exit.

Give that a try, I'll cross my toes.

Originally posted by Odds: Reinstalled to try out the update, wouldnt launch game because of mods. Wiped Valheim folder from all drives manually, uninstalled on Steam, reinstalled and verified. I can get into game, create a character and new world, but 5 seconds after I hit start and get into the loading screen the game will crash.

Any ideas? I fully scoured my 3 drives for Valheim folders / leftovers, verified integrity, tried installing on a new drive, lowered graphics and resolution.

Have you tried running the game as Administrator? Sometimes that fixes issues like this for some technical reason I'm too tired to go google to learn about right now.

Did that end up letting you fire up the game ok?

thanks

Delete your main game files (except for your world and character of course!!!!!) , re-download & reinstall clean. Clearly some residual mod file is causing you an issue if you're getting BepInEx errors.

A clean vanilla install is your best option right now, and then you can keep an eye on your favourite mods & re-apply them when they're updated to... Read more

Doesn't work either. Almost 4 reinstalls and I've given up.

Rather than uninstalling & reinstalling, did you try the Verify Files option through Steam?

You should also check you have the latest version of Visual C++ Redistributables installed, that's a... Read more

Oh, so that's what it is. Okay, thanks Weaver and PakaNoHida :)

You might want to do the Verify Files thing too after you remove the mods, sometimes they can make tiny config changes that don't always reset when you manually remove them. Good luck!

Might be placebo but the game just feels a lot tighter and snappier now.

Not a placebo, a pass at optimization was done with this release along with some other back end tweaks/fixes etc - as was mentioned in their fireside chat :) Glad it's brought you some gains!

With H&H being released, we have many users rushing to the forums to share their thoughts, feedback, issues & opinions, which is great! We appreciate every feedback, whether good or bad - In the end, it helps the developers to improve the game.

However, to make it easier for Iron Gate to read through them, we will be merging similar topics into this thread. Otherwise, your feedback may get lost across dozens of similar individual threads.

We hope that you understand this decision, it was made to highlight your individual opinions.

While you are free to express criticism, we have to remind you to abide by our Forum Rules and Steam's Rules and Guidelines.

nope.
Reinstal game. Now all work

The code probably just needed re-validating after the patch, sometimes that happens when there's game updates. Glad you got it fixed :)
