Yep, it’s another non-descript Access Violation crash.

It may also be worth running through some general ‘go to’ solutions here:

Hi @Richielb,

Are you able to quit the Prologue from the menu and return to the game menu screen?

Also, curious, are you playing on ‘Official’ realm? (this can be set via the Vermintide 2 launcher settings)

Hi @jamesytl,

I can see you’re encountering an Access Violation crash and have a Ryzen CPU.

I recommend to try lowering your ‘Worker Threads’ count to 6.

Please see:

This crash appears to mod-related, and I think that Simple UI may be the culprit here as the crash report references this several times. Could you please try disabling this?

It helps that you were the host, as I’ve been able to look up the crash and raise it to our database. I’m not completely confident all of your crashes are being reported to our internal crash reporter though, but it’s a step in the right direction.

An absent-minded man of mysteries, Franz Lohner relies on his bulging journal to keep track of occurrences, intrigues and arguments around Taal's Horn Keep. Sometimes his notes are even useful, believe it or not. The Franz Lohner Chronicles are extracts from that journal.

Franz Lohner’s Chronicle – A Message from Okri
Well, this is one of them red letter days. Literally, I mean, because I’ve had another missive from Okri in its usual natty red envelope. At least, I think I have. It’s hard to be certain of a letter’s provenance when you’ve never seen its author. Harder still when said letter shows up in a variety of unusual ways.

Okri - and let’s assume it is Okri, for the sake of sanity and wotnot - is an inventive soul. I’ve had letters sent down the chimney. Delivered by couriers of all shapes and sizes. Although that ogre had eaten half the envelope before I wrangled it off him, price of dying it in blood, I suppose. Carrier pigeon, that was another one. Bar... Read more

If I were a gambling man, someone really high up at Fatshark is the one who first envisioned the Vermintide 2 loot mechanics, so it's impossible "politically" to change it. Or, it's impossible from a technical perspective because of the nightmare spaghetti code that is hidden behind the scenes.

Anyway I'm salty and going back to sleep, then I'm gonna launch Back 4 Blood and complain how I wish Chaos Wastes was also in the base game.

Imagine doing a campaign run through Act 1 with random drops like Chaos Wastes! Beat Righteous Stand, Convocation, Hunger in the Dark, then Bubblegum Hal...

There's a fair bit more to it, it's not a pasta-based issue. A lot of the systems in Adventure interweave with each other, levelling (in turn talents), crafting, loot, even Okri's. They all have a dependency on each other in some way. Changing to an athanor system in Adventure isn't just changing how loot works, but it has knock on effects to the entire 'base' game.

We totally do appreciate the love for the athanor and why its seen as a better system by many. Just that it's not as easy as ripping out one and dropping in the other. A whole bunch of thought, planning and execution does have to happen for it to work, and work well.

On October 28th the free update Grudge Marks will be available on all platforms together with Geheimnisnacht. Besides the new content, we have also added some Quality of Life changes, and in this dev blog you can read all about the upcoming changes.

ENHANCED TAB MENU The TAB menu has gotten a make-over. The new features will show the equipped equipment of all the players and a new, more condensed layout, makes it easier to see any incoming enemies even when viewing the TAB overlay. The new overlay also shows active modifiers for the mission in progress and maintains the original functionality you’re accustomed to, such as muting players or being able to click through to their community profile on Steam.
