Twitch engagement is a form of advertising because top-watched games are recommended more easily to new viewers.

Yes, the idea of watching instead of playing to receive rewards can be odd if taken on its face, but having an extra 10, 100, or 1,000 viewers hanging out in your game's category still helps draw others to check it out. People go where the action is, so viewer count is very important in that sense. "If others are watching it, maybe I will too."

You need to do at least some damage to enemy ships with your planes. A single strike will suffice.

It's not that they are mounted. If they were mounted they would not appear in the Inventory screen because they would be in-use.

These modules are optional in that you can choose Option A or Option B. The Premium is created in such a way as to have slightly variable playstyle to it.

The modules that come with a Premium are part of the Premium. You may elect not to use an alternative option, but the Premium is sold/attained as a whole and cannot be sold in pieces.

Greetings Captains,

Welcome to this week’s edition of the New Player Captain's Log! For those of you who aren't sure what this is or what it might do, feel free to check out the introductory post here.

With each topic I discuss, I also added a question at the end to see how y’all feel about things in comparison to how I feel. I just thought it would be an interesting way to get some discussion going!

Also, apologies for being a day late this week. I was traveling back from Prague after completing production duties for King of the Sea XIV, and needed a day to reacclimate to North American time zones.

Removing the gameplay aspects from camos removes the need to use them. That eases the credit/usage burden on Free-to-Play players because a camo is not considered "required" for basic play.

As for the "Don't you want to be unique?", we already are unique. Our product is very special and there really isn't anything else like it, ship camos or no. Moving closer to an industry standard doesn't make our product less special.

To the best of my knowledge, our target demographic is middle-aged males. This demographic does play a host of games, many of which use standardized methods of selling customization options which do not affect gameplay at all.

To be fair, we've been aware of the community feedback regarding loss of gameplay relation to camos. It's a unique issue for us because camos provided a gameplay benefit for so long that our playerbase expects that as the norm, whereas other games in our industry directly sell visual changes that have no gameplay effect whatsoever.

The Survey may not have included the questions you wanted to respond to, but Surveys are extremely important for having your voice heard.

We can and do base decisions off Survey information, so advising people to ignore Surveys is not helpful in getting opinions represented.

I tend to avoid playing Russian CV as I dislike the playstyle. The Broadside requirement combined with very slow planes makes for a lot of frustration as getting to the positions needed to be able to strike effectively. I prefer CVs with a more varied toolset.

The Chkalov does provide enough toolset variance that I do play her. She is very capable in Ranked matches against Battleship/Destroyer heavy comps.

Chkalov has Skip Bombers. The Dive Bombers are in place of the Rockets a tech-tree Russian CV would have.

While Skip Bombers can be effective, their attack pattern is something that can be seen and planned for (needs a broadside). The HE Bomber reticle is fairly small so while RNG can be against you there is a fair expectation of damage regardless of the Destroyer's movement/positioning.

Typically between 3 and 8 hours a day, though some days I just don't have the energy to do anything. Occasional bouts of 12-16 hour days when inspired.

Oh, ...a week? Erm... Probably between 20-40? I go pretty hard when a new game snags my interest so it could be higher.

Chkalov is considered stronger because it has the more versatile toolset. Russian CV has a broadside attack-angle restriction in that all its weapons use that line of attack.

Chkalov has more options in that its':

Torpedo Bombers grouping is tight enough to attack bow-on with expectation of damage.


Dive Bombers are weak against Cruiser and Battleships due to low health but are very capable at hunting Destroyers with weak AA.
