It's hard to say what's causing the crash for you. I suggest you post on the official forums[forum.paradoxplaza.com] and upload your output/player log there after a crash, so we can see what's happening and hopefully find a solution.

Hey PapaKoutz,

Thanks for reaching out and I am sorry to hear about the issue you ran into.

To get a better idea about the issue you're having, could you advise whether you happen to receive any error message when crash occurs, and also, does your game crash on launch or whilst in-game? If it is whilst in-game, did you notice whether there are any particular actions you do in-game prior to it?

In the meantime, taking into account that you have done a number of troubleshooting steps, have a look at the following article and try completing the ones you haven't yet, to see whether issue persists.

Hey there,

Thanks for letting us know!

Have you had any luck after trying those troubleshooting steps?

If you're still having issues, please open a case on our Support Site and send over your system files.

If this crash is reproducible from a save game file, if it a clear game bug and you are all set to report it as such! Please make a new thread in the official Bug Reports forum here:
forum.paradoxplaza.com

Stellaris: Bug Reports

Found a bug? Does something seem odd? Share it and it will be investigated! forum.paradoxplaza.com forum.paradoxplaza.com
That's where our QA people gather and qualify bugs to send on to the developers. Please make a detailed report there, and attach that save game file, plus any steps QA need to do to trigger the problem.

Then just put that save aside, and try it as you see new game patches come out.

Sorry for that problem!

Can you check if you using the latest version? Is there any errors?

What is your OS?

Hello @tolkyyn, I'm sorry to hear this is happening in Valhalla right now. What platform are you currently playing on this happens, and is it occurring in the exact location in-game, or has it been random for you?

about 3 years ago - Ubi-Keo - Direct link

@Tolkyyn @balderogue I'm sorry to hear that you are both experiencing crashes whilst playing the game.

Can you both please go through the PC troubleshooting steps in the support article here then try again.

If the issue still persists, could you please submit a support ticket and attach your system files, dxdiag and msinfo and our Customer Support team will investigate this further for you.

Hi @neens___ and welcome to the forums.

I am sorry to hear that your game is crashing.

Can you please go through the PS4 troubleshooting steps then try again.

If the issue persists can you confirm the following:

  • What happens when the game crashes? Do you get the standard crash error report on the blue screen, does the console turn itself off or does the screen freeze?
  • Did this only occur since the latest game update?
  • Does the game only crash when you fast travel or leave Ravensthorpe?
  • Is the game installed on your internal HDD or an external HDD?
  • Do you own a disc or digital version of the game?
  • Do you have a PS4 or PS4 Pro?
  • Had you experienced a crash in your game previously before this started to happen regulary?
  • Have you tried loading a different save to see if the issue persists? If not please try this
  • What is the current main quest that is available in your quest log?

Hi @longjohn119 thanks for providing a solution that helped to reduce the crashes for yourself, this may help any other players who are experiencing this issue.

If you revert to 1.5.1.1 in the Steam Betas tab for the game, does it start then?
over 2 years ago - AndrewT - Direct link
Please do a full **clean** re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "uninstall" in Steam-CK3
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/CK3 AND Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3 folders
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- add CK3.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.
- start the game with no mods active and test

In particular make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam CK3 or Documents CK3 locations, before installing again.

If those don't help:
DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Please attach here your Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/pdx_settings.txt .
From your Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/logs/ folder, attach here system.log , error.log, exceptions.log

Hi @pgrogers apologies for the late response.

Can you confirm if this crashing only started to occur after you installed the latest update, 1.6.0? Have you also experienced any crashes whilst in Ravensthorpe or when trying to do any of the Sigrblot festival quests or activities?

The reason I ask is because we are aware that some players are experiencing crashes since the festival, mainly in Ravensthorpe or when participating in the festival. However, we have also received other reports of crashes in random locations in the game too since the festival went live.

Hi @PHILIP-PELE I'm sorry to hear that Assassin's Creed Valhalla is crashing.

Could you take a look at the PC troubleshooting article and run through all the steps listed then try again. The support article contains some of the most common fixes for crashes, freezing, FPS drops and more.

Please confirm if this resolves the issue.

@PHILIP-PELE Thank you for taking the time to get all of those steps completed! Your system clearly meets minimum requirements, and those troubleshooting steps help us to eliminate most common causes of crashes like this. To proceed, I'd like to take a look at some of your system files. If you don't mind, please open a ticket on our support website with your system files attached. (To save time, it may help to include the link to this thread in your ticket.)

Hi @Ibervang I'm sorry to hear that you have had to start a quest again. Is this because the game has crashed again during a quest?

If so can you please go through the PC troubleshooting that was provided to you last time if you haven't already.

If the issue persists after the troubleshooting then could you also try the following:

  • Reinstalling the game and ensure you have installed it on the same drive as the Ubisoft Connect launcher
  • Do a System File Check for any corrupted system files
  • Performing a clean boot and launch the game again. This process will help ensure there are no background programs or applications possibly interfering with your game.

@Ibervang I can understand your frustration, however we must run through PC troubleshooting when a player reports a crashing issue.

All PC players have different setups, such as GPU's, CPU's etc, so when an issue does occur it is is not always easy to identify the cause of the issue.

Most of the time general PC troubleshooting can help to resolve an issue with crashing, freezing, FPS drops and more. However, in some cases we would need to gather your system files to investigate further.

If you do not want to reinstall your game that is fine, we can only suggest that you do that. If you would like us to investigate the issue further then I would need to create a support case for you. Would you like me to do this?

Hey @Ibervang

I can understand your frustration with this issue, I can only apologize for the crashes you're experiencing.

As stated by Ubi-Keo, we offer as much help as we can to try to find the root of the problem or what might be causing these crashes on your PC. (As these happen to different players, often for different reasons).

Thank you for checking your system files regardless, I do appreciate you tried some of the steps suggested.

If you would like any more support with this, I would suggest opening a support ticket via email when you find the time, and please attach a Msinfo and DxDiag report here, so the team can take a closer look at the problem. (again, this is totally up to you).

Otherwise, I will lock this thread in the meantime as we are unable to provide any further steps in the forums.

If you need help with another issue in future, please don't hesitate to create another thread!

I'm afraid this is very likely to be another case of the suspected game engine bug as I describe here
forum.paradoxplaza.com

Game continues to crash on the "Initialising" step on PC Gamepass

When I saw the game had a new option to select and deselect which DLCs you want to load on Gamepass now, I was hopeful that would help, but no such luck. Even with all DLCs turned off, the game continues to crash before launching the main title... forum.paradoxplaza.com forum.paradoxplaza.com
To confirm that, please use Affinity in Windows to make ck3.exe only run on your first 8 cores/CPUs , the p-cores. Does that help this problem for you?
about 1 year ago - AndrewT - Direct link
It is a big issue to solve as it is in the underlying game engine, not the games as such. So a different development team.

However 8 cores ought to be plenty for these games (indeed any game) - there are very few apps of any sort that can usefully use more than about 4 cores at once! Only really CPU-intensive apps like say Photoshop or CAD/CAM systems really. So I can't account for these games now being slower; I guess unload every other app you can before starting the games.
