You aren't wrong, but I think the Anthem devs had plenty to learn from the failure of Destiny 2 and Battlefront 2, as well as the success of a game like Warframe. It would be a colossal f**k-up on their part if they haven't capitalized on those mistakes. I've been jaded in the past, but I'm cautiously optimistic that Anthem will be successful. Don't let me down, u/BenIrvo.

  • If I'm a Storm, and my cape is damaged, will my teammates be allowed support abilities to sew it back together?
  • If I'm a Interceptor...wait, they don't even HAVE capes! This is concerning.

  • I'm concerned this will be like Destiny. Also, I'm concerned this won't be like Destiny.
  • In the Division, they did these things I like. There's 72 of them, and I think Anthem should adopt between 70 and 71 of those. That's in the attached spreadsheet and color coded in terms of priority.

I was not super impressed with the Storm and Interceptor video for this very reason. The video from E3 this year, on the other, was fantastic because of this reason.

We are toning it down. I think it’s done already and just wasn’t in that build

Was doing MASSIVE work. I can confidently say that as their is no footage from my perspective to prove otherwise ;p

I watched a developer gameplay video of the Storm and Interceptor and the flying and environments constantly wowed me, then they get into a fight and it is so standard. It’s hard to even put into words or specifically what doesn’t feel right.

I understand what you are saying but I’ve watched it a lot and it’s just something I’ve never been able to articulate well.

EDIT TO TRY AND EXPLAIN BETTER: My best example is Wildstar. I was beyond excited for that game, learned every ability for every class before it came out, planned builds on fansites, I loved the art style, the humor, the world they were building...everything...except when I watched gameplay something felt off. The hard thing is all your examples are of games you have played and you express how it felt to play them. It may just be that you need to play Anthem to decide. It’s really hard to get a sense of a game by watching it. It’s honestly one of the things we struggle with and it’s why we have done a bunch of hands on stuff with press - so they can try to share their feelings with all of you.

I think combat feels great. I am also biased.

I kind of already committed to the perspective of the Interceptor being shown as it’s the only perspective that hasn’t been shown... we could do it for however many other players we have?

And remember, that’s for the next GAMEPLAY live stream... that may be the next one or it may not. Working through that.

You had it right, some of the copy on the EA site describes it well...

"Customization is making your Javelin play like you want..."

"Personalization is making it look like you want..."

Customization has some impact on your visual look as models change based on what you have equipped...

The personalization system lets you can add colour, vinyls/decals and meshes (armor packs) to pretty completely modify how the suit looks (as you've seen in some of the twitter posts and videos) 😊.
