Let's get back on topic. If you want to discuss how you feel about the launcher, do so in the existing threads for that purpose.

If you have suggestions for improvements to the launcher that would make it feel worth having, then please add them here.

When a building is listed as "RICO" on the workshop, it usually means it uses the mod Ploppable RICO, which makes buildings behave like growables (the buildings that automatically spawn in zoned areas). Since growables can only be 4x4 tiles or smaller, the mod was created to allow larger buildings to be more than just decorative.

I would absolutely love a button to load directly into the asset editor, kinda like the "Resume" button for the editor. Bypassing the main menu would save me time. :)

Thanks for the response snowflitzer :) Like I mentioned in my initial post - we, as Paradox, will try to keep our communication to a higher standard in the future.

As we all know, launcher introduction got very mixed reaction from the community overall... and many very negative comments on Steam. Our launcher development team has been working hard on making it as useful and attractive to the players, but it cannot be done without your help.

Like Verullus Forgefire said, some Cities fans probably don't mind the launcher at all. However, with people who want to voice their opinion, a constructive feedback is important to push the changes in the right direction. I'm sure you know a bit about it as a software developer :)

Keeping that in mind, what exactly would you like to see improved or added? What would make your experience with the launcher better? And regarding that one part of your post - have you noticed any big spikes in RAM consumption on your PC... Read more

Well, we said only if people on Steam forums didn't riot ;) haha

We've often considered riots though, as it's a common request. So I'll pass on your feedback! Thanks!

Could you share some more info about your system and OS?

We've already got a fix for load times, personally tested on my own computer with a couple thousand mods (it's all mod-related). And launcher takes like 2 seconds to load once we get this hotfix deployed

Sorry for the frustration! I know it's even worse when you've taken time off to play

shaneturner12 is correct. The Windows 10 Edition is the Xbox version and does not support mods. You want the Steam version for that. It's sadly not very clear and super frustrating. I would try to get a refund if I was you, so you can get the proper version that supports mods.

It's a hidden folder by default. You need to enable View Hidden in File Explorer to see it.

Yeah it doesn't work for everyone sadly, but it does help in some cases. Sucks for everyone still having issues no doubt. But let's stick to the topic here. There's several discussions already about the launcher, we don't need yet another one. ;)

For mac try deleting the Paradox Interactive folder found in ~/Library/Application Support/

To see it go to the Finder, hit command-shift-G (ie Go To) and paste in ~/Library/Application Support/

Sounds like maybe you're running out of RAM. Check RAM usage while the game runs. If you're on Windows, open the task manager (ctrl + shift + esc) and find the Performance tab. That will show you much RAM is being used and how much is free.

If you're experiencing issues with your launcher when you try and run a game from Steam please try the following solutions:

  • Make sure steam.exe and the cities.exe file are on the allowed list for both Windows Defender and your anti virus program
  • Check your anti virus programs quarantine section as we've found that occasionally the bootstrapper file gets falsely flagged as a virus. If it's in your quarantined list please restore the file and try again.
  • Make sure that both Steam and the game is installed on the same partition, preferably your C:

If none of the above first steps work please try the following:

  1. Exit Steam and start it as Administrator (right click Steam.exe > Run as administrator)
  2. Run the cities.exe file directly from the installation directory (this will circumvent the launcher all together)
  3. Exit Steam and remove the Paradox Launcher from the A...

I don't know anything that isn't available info to everyone else. I don't work for Paradox, I just do these mod compatibility threads each patch to help out players. Asking in the discussion for the patch is more likely to get an answer. I doubt Azurespecter checks this thread. ;)

@Chilldrox: That sounds really frustrating! :( Hopefully we'll see a patch soon to fix the issues caused by the launcher. I can't really help with all this and I doubt anyone who can checks this thread, since it's focused on mods.

The best thing you can do while waiting is probably post on the support forums[forum.paradoxplaza.com] and attach the files mentioned in this post[forum.paradoxplaza.com] to help narrow down what's happening.

Fingers crossed this will be fixed soon!
