If it's reproducible reliably from a given save file, it's one for QA in the Bug Reports forum - there's nothing we can do here to fix or work around it, sorry.

Once you've reported it there put that campaign aside, and try it as you see new game patches come out.

Sorry for that problem!

DXDIAG is a program you run from a command prompt or the Windows start menu 'run' dialog box (or 'search programs' in Windows 7 or later). After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Please attach your Documents/Paradox/CK3/pdx_settings.txt .
From your Documents/Paradox/CK3/logs/ folder, attach system.log , error.log

Please try this:

- exit the Steam app entirely
- uninstall Paradox Launcher v2 from the Windows "Apps and features" utility, if still present.

Delete the following folders if still present:

- C:/users//AppData/Local/Programs/Paradox Interactive/
- C:/users//AppData/Local/Paradox Interactive/
- C:/users//AppData/Roaming/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2/
To see the AppData folder you'll need to enable View Hidden Items in File Explorer.

- run steam.exe as the Windows Admin user

- run the game from the PLAY button in Steam

IF that doesn't help, in this folder are some .log files:
C:/users//AppData/Local/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2/
Please attach them here.

Note that you can run ck3.exe directly from Windows Explorer, which bypasses the launcher.

TheWxtcher said: If its possible I really think there should be a warning on the Microsoft Store, had I known there was an issue with dual cores I would have waited until the fix and then activated my Game Pass. I only bought it as it was £1 and now it's just going to waste as I'm unlikely to renew it for the full price. Just to save others the frustration.
It is a bug in the 1.1.x patches, it used to work under 1.03, and will be fixed. We don't put warnings up for situations like that FYI.

Sorry for the bug!

Are you only having the crash reporter problem, or a game problem too?

This is a bug in crash reporter and should be fixed in the next patch.

What game problem are you having?

There's a bug in the 1.1.x patches where it will not load on a machine with only 2 CPUs, which is the case here. I've only seen it on Windows so far so I'm not 100% sure that is your problem.

So please try reverting to the 1.03 game patch in the Steam Betas tab for the game - is that any better?

Looks like no more of those BlackScreens, but some AppHangs in CK3 now which were not there before. And yes, lots of disturbing errors there.

Please do a full **clean** re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "uninstall" in Steam-CK3
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/CK3 AND Documents/Paradox/CK3 folders
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- add CK3.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.
- start the game with no mods active and test with a new campaign - NOT with any existing save game

In particular make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam CK3 or Documents CK3 locations, before installing again.

Let us know if that changes things!

psychopie said: Hi Andrew, I played fine up until Oct 3rd. I only tried to play again on the 5th and I couldn't and still can't. I tried everything the those 2 threads you linked, no luck.

There was a Xbox App update that got installed on my computer on Oct 5th. Since others on this thread are mentioning they've been playing fine up until now, it seems like it could be the culprit.

Note however that other games I've played on Xbox pass since I've been having problems with CK3 are working fine.

Please try the following:

- unsubscribe from all mods
- delete the folder Documents/paradox/CK3/mod/
- delete the file Documents/paradox/CK3/mods_registry.json
- delete the file Documents/paradox/CK3/launcher-v2.sqlite
- subscribe to a few mods
- run the game up and see if those mods are now available to you.

I hope that does it for you!

There game will simply not run an any 2 core/CPU setup, I'm sorry. As MS provide no way for you to revert to older game versions, I'm afraid all we can do is hope then get that fix out real soon!

The last recommended AMD driver is still the one from May 2020, so I'd suggest doing another clean reinstall and using that.

If still an issue, well, I think the problem is elsewhere. Try unloading AISuite3.exe as I've seen that cause issues with our games.

If you revert to 1.1.1 in the Steam betas tab for this game, does it run again?

We are aware of an issue where some customers can't login/stay signed in with their Paradox account which then results in being unable to play multiplayer. We released an update early on the 22nd of September that we hoped would solve it (you can read more here: https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/threads/server-update-notification-sept-22.1423886/) but it seems that wasn't the case >.

Sorry about that!

I see both of you are in games where one power has a huge area of the map, which I know from CK2 was a situation known to cause such problems, especially if a civil war or mass revolt broke out and the map was covered in troops.

I suggest you make a new post in the Bug Reports forum , and attach both saves there so QA and the devs can have them as excellent examples of what needs to be addressed in this area.

Thanks for your help so far!

File Locations on Linux

Executable, DLCs and Mod upload folder:
/home/user/.local/share/SteamApps/common/Crusader Kings III/

The "Documents" equivalent is:
/home/user/.paradoxinteractive/Crusader Kings III/

So logs are in /logs/ under that.

Is your crash as our launcher starts or as the game starts from it?

Has it ever worked on this machine?

What happens if you start the game's executable from a terminal session command line?

The game hasn't changed since 1.1.2 on 1 October - did you play okay between then and the 7th?

Please try these steps that some affected Gamepass users have found helped them:
