Please do a full **clean** re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "uninstall" in Steam-CK3
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/CK3 AND Documents/Paradox/CK3 folders
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- add CK3.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.
- start the game with no mods active and test

In particular make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam CK3 or Documents CK3 locations, before installing again.

Don't want them in Documents folder on my C: drive. That drive is quite small, and in addition they bloat my backups and will eventually cause an issue there, too. Game is installed on my D: drive so I think wanting my save games to be located on the same drive as my game installation is completely reasonable.
The easiest way is to use cloud saves instead of local. Is there a reason why that doesn't work for you?

Trying to play though an Nvidea shield and it's the only game on Geforce now that won't load. After selecting the game to play I get the in Steam Crusader Kings "play now" pop up but when I click play it just sends me back to the main Geforce menu after a couple of seconds of the loading screen. Let me know if I should create a new thread.

Okay, did you add ck3.exe steam.exe and paradox plauncher.exe to the Apps Allowed Through list in its Ransomware feature?

That's a shame ... how about if you delete the whole documents/paradox/ck3/ folder (except any valued saved games)?

In that case you need to revert to the 1.03 game patch in the Steam Betas tab, until this bug can be fixed. Sorry... Read more

Nothing obviously wrong in that Speccy output. Can I get new copies of the files in your OP here please?

But it does not mention how many CPUs/cores it has? Basically if it has 2 we know what the problem is and it will be fixed, soon I hope.

What antivirus do you use?

You are definitely running the game from the Xbox app, not the MS Store app? And the MS Gaming Services app is updated?

No, I don't, as yet anyway.

We could try just some limited steps to try and narrow it down. What if you go to documents/paradox/ck3/ and just delete the three cache folders?

Always start via Steam, you should not ever have to run the launcher installer manually.

DXDIAG is a program you run from a command prompt or the Windows start menu 'run' dialog box (or 'search programs' in Windows 7 or later). After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Please attach your Documents/Paradox/CK3/pdx_settings.txt .
From your Documents/Paradox/CK3/logs/ fol... Read more

We now think this is an issue with dual CPU systems.
Processor: AMD A4-4000 APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics (2 CPUs), ~3.0GHz
CPU or GPU slightly below the minimum requirements should not cause a crash like this. If that is confirmed there will be a hotfix soon to address that problem.

Sorry about that!

In the meantime you can revert the game to version 1.03 in the Steam Betas tab for the game, which does not have that problem.

Let's try forcing an update of the launcher.

Download the installer package for Windows: https://forumcontent.paradoxplaza.com/emailsignatures/2020.13-win-prod.zip

Unpack the file you just downloaded and place the three files in the Steam folder for the game you're having issues with. If asked if you want to replace already existing files click "yes" - that's a sign you are in the right place!

Then please repeat the launcher reinstall procedure from post #7 above.

Good luck with that!

We can't see what the CPU is in that dxdiag, weirdly. In Windows Explorer right click on "This PC", properties. What does it say next to Processor?

Yes, what antivirus app do you use? Add CK3.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.

You may need to add steam.exe and C:/users//AppData/Local/Programs/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2.2020.13/paradox launcher.exe to that list.

Nothing in there either I'm afraid. This is a very strange one!

I do see Windows has only just been installed. Please Install ALL these Microsoft modules:

Download Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86) from Official Microsoft Download Center ...

Not that I can disclose as yet, I'm sorry!

But can you not revert to game version 1.03 and play, as with this issue on Windows?
