The 1603/1605 errors we see there are typically a previous other installation stuck, or a problem in the Windows update/install processes.

If you see msiexec running in Task manager-processes, kill it and try this launcher install again please.

Otherwise run the Update app in Windows, does it load okay, find anything to apply - whether a patch, update, or whole new Windows 10 version? If so do that and reboot, then try this launcher install again please.

If still no good, do you see Paradox Launcher v2 in the Windows Control Panel to uninstall? If so does it uninstall cleanly, or get an error doing that? Use this MS tool to remove the stuck install/uninstall:

P4CH said: I have some suggestion, maybe problem is about drive/location of CK3 or DLC installation? On one of my PC I have no problem (only after new DLC release) and there is only C drive. On another PC have no space on C drive, so I install CK3 and DLCs on another drive and CK3 launcher doesn't see DLCs.
Is this a Steam, MS/gamepass or other edition of the game?

You might check with the folks in User Mods then, they'll have more experience in that area.

Good luck!

You must have run the launcher from the desktop shortcut, which is a standalone mode for users who do not want to run Steam. It does need a separate game installation if used that way.

As you are okay with Steam , run the game from the PLAY button in your library there, as before.

Aleorn said: But now, when I have my game installed in Steam but not yet linked to PDX Launcher, the saves look like some cryptic stuff. What could be the reason for that?
They are compressed. To uncompress them change the filename to add .zip to the end then double... Read more

I can only guess the game builds a map cache the first time, which is used subsequently. If that's right it's more a game design issue than a bug or a technical problem.

Lots of DirectX 11 errors, plus other video problems in there. While your nVidia driver is pretty recent, being on Windows 8.1 is not ideal - were you at all thinking of updating that OS?

Right click on ck3.exe , properties, compatibility. Tick "disable fullScreen optimisations" untick every other box in that dialog, Apply and exit.

Then in the launcher Game Settings menu, select fullScreen display mode, Vsync off, refresh rate 60.

Is that any better?

If not, edit that pdx_settings.txt file and replace DX11 with OpenGL .Does it load then?

I don't know, you'd need to ask the modders on that score!

Your issue is identical to the OP's yet the same steps did not help? Is that right?

It was probably overheating then, you may need to look into its cooling setup.

We don't move threads into Bug Reports, because when you post a new one there there's a form the QA team need you to fill out for more details.

Unlikely, hard to see how. Either you are still installing mods, or this is a game bug.

Can you do a test install of the game on any other computer you have access to, and test this there? That way you can decisively determine if this is indeed an issue confined to this machine or not.

You are in a game year more than 2,000 years after the game ends ... ? If that's really the case you are WAY outside the design parameters of the game.

By all means report it in Bug Reports but I frankly doubt it will be looked at much, sorry!

American footballguy said: I've had consistent problems with my Xbox Game Pass version of CK3 and have all DLC and no mods. Every time I play the game for around 10-15 minutes my entire computer will freeze up and ck3 will crash while everything else remains fine. This has only started after playing the new Canaries. Any help appreciated

The Xbox/Gamepass version cannot use older game versions, so the OP's problem will be unrelated to yours.

Was this problem campaign started under current or recent patches? Or some older one?

Looks like your AMD video driver could stand an update, so install the latest from here:
http://support.amd.com/en-us/download
Then let's do a clean reinstall and eliminate those mods that are giving errors:

- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "uninstall" in Steam-CK3
- unsubscribe from ALL mods in the Steam Workshop for this game

- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/CK3 AND Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3 folders
In particular make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam CK3 or Documents CK3 locations, before installing again.

- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- add CK3.exe to the exceptions list of yo... Read more

DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Please attach here your Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/pdx_settings.txt .
From your Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/logs/ folder, attach here system.log , error.log
