Keldion said: I have the same issue myself, trying to make the game work through the launcher or steam is completely broken, it says it requires Visual C++. Tried reinstalling the game several times, a completely fresh install. Uninstalled CK3 and the paradox launcher, deleted all files and folders I could find on the PC, then reinstalled with no luck. I have also tried rolling back to an older version of the game, still has the same issue. I have now managed to load the game up from the game exe in its folder alone, and the game works fine, no crashes or bugs of any kind. The only issue is I always play with ...

We have three possible workarounds that may solve it:

Disable IPv6
- Close CK3
- Go to Control Panel > View Network status and tasks > Change adapter settings (left side)
- Find your Hamachi Connection and Disable it
- Find your Internet connection adapter (for me, it was WiFi)
- Right click your internet adapter and select properties
- Scroll down to find "Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6) and uncheck the box
- Select Ok
- Start up CK3 and should work.

Disable all other network adapters
Go to Windows Control panel.
Click on Network & Internet.
Click on View Network Status.
Quick Tip: You can also quickly access these settings by right-clicking the network icon in the taskbar and selecting the Network & Internet settings option.
Click on Change adapter options.
Right-click all network adapters that are not connected to the internet and select the Disable option.

That happens if you run ck3.exe directly from File Explorer?

DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Please attach here your Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/pdx_settings.txt .
From your Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/logs/ folder, attach here system.log , error.log , exeptions.log

Please do a full **clean** re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "uninstall" in Steam-CK3
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/CK3 AND Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3 folders
In particular make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam CK3 or Documents CK3 locations, before installing again.

- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- add CK3.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.
- start the game with no mods active and test with a new campaign, NOT any existing one

Is that any better? If those don't help:

Was this game started under some previous patch? If so yu should revert to it in the Steam Betas tab for the game.

I hope that does it for you!

That patch comes with a new ck3.exe . Have you added it to your antivirus app's exceptions lists?

What game version does the save game say say it is? If it says 1.6 or later you should be okay.

If it is earlier than that, you'll need to revert to that version in the Steam betas tab for the game.

So there is something about that particular save game file that prevents the game from saving it, would you say? Very weird, if so.

What happens when you do a manual save - any error?

No, I don't - it's not a known issue with the game in general.

If you now start a new test campaign does it save okay, whether local or cloud?

lolmind1 said: When I ran ck3.exe today, the following phenomenon appeared. what is this??
Impossible to tell that caused that crash just from that screen I'm afraid.

There was a minor update to 1.6.1.2 overnight, but that's not been seen to cause any new problems.

No obvious problem in that file. Was there no settings.txt?

Tingeltangelflop said: would it be helpfull to check out whether any of my other paradox games (HOI4, Stellaris) work?
No harm in trying! Both via the launcher and directly from their .exe files, I'd suggest.

Can I get a new dxdiag.txt please, since the driver update. And install and run the free utility Speccy. Send its output to a text file and attach that here too, thanks.

If you haven't started any new campaign since, you can get the file Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/last_save.ck3 and move it to the /Save Games/ folder there.

Does that help?
