Hear you loud and clear. Good news is we've got a balance pass coming for primary weapons in PvE in the mid-season patch, and it doesn’t involve nerfing SMGs. We'll have more info in TWAB at the end of the month.

This is something we've been discussing with our web/app team for a few months, but Stadia's shutdown and Lightfall launch took priority. No ETA on implementation but it is on the backlog. We're hoping to utilize the blog so that maintenance and other issues can be auto-posted here.

In the meantime, you can view this page (in English) for maintenance schedules: https://help.bungie.net/hc/en-us/articles/360049199271-Destiny-Server-and-Update-Status

We're currently exploring better and faster localization to that page.

Disable 3d audio with the game closed then relaunch it. Let me know if that works

It sounds like some kind of added reverb or something to that effect. I noticed it but thought I was just hallucinating. I only played the first mission so far. I’m on PC using Steelseries Arctis Nova Pro. I’m using sonar which defaults to 8 channels and I’m assuming downsmixes to stereo unless you turn the surround on. Hope this information helps!

So far I believe some users on ps5 are hitting this issue. We're looking into it and trying to gather info. We believe it could be tied in some way to the 3d audio setting. Try any kind of disabling of any of these settings, restarting the app and messing around with any Dolby settings on your personal setup. Hopefully you can find a way around it until we pinpoint the cause and fix it!

I did not initially. I activated 3D audio to see if it might fix the issue, but it sounds the same either way.

Is it across all activities or menus or just in some spots?

Only until Lightfall drops.

How can you ensure people downloading normally tomorrow (when they are actually supposed to) will not face the same issue of needing to reinstall?

The measures above are only needed if ps5 players want to play D2 today. It won’t be possible to play D2 tomorrow until Lightfall launch, so there would be no reason to perform a reinstall.

Hi. You need to contact the store’s customer service team to get this issue resolved: https://bungiestore.com/customer-service

Will there be issues for people who got the preload and don't follow these instructions?

Other than not being able to play Destiny 2, no.

Edit: This is until Lightfall drops.

Greetings. Hope ya'll have enjoyed the new menu music!

The PS5 preload of Lightfall was accidentally released early in Japan and Europe. We've just finished rolling back the preload so that no one else will be affected.

Those currently affected need to perform the following:

  1. Uninstall the game

  2. Go to “Game Library”

  3. Select “Your Collection”

  4. Select the Destiny 2 icon

  5. Select the PS5 version

  6. On the D2 store page, select "Download” to reinstall D2

A small subset of users are being affected by a bug in the API layer (not the majority - but if it is broken, you'll get errors like "DestinyInvalidRequest" or other things that don't really make sense). There is a BungieHelp tweet about it: https://twitter.com/BungieHelp/status/1629176785320529922

Anyway, we are pretty sure we know what the problem is and are working to fix it.

Has anyone outside of the development team been able to figure out the three places you've used the breast pump sound? Or is that mystery still unsolved

Yeah some people have figured out 1 of 3 places but no one ever listens to them. They say stasis super and lament with too much confidence haha

Headphones sound good - speakers, not so much! Probably my setup.

Question, if you're open to them! What's the craziest item you've ever used to produce a sound?

Definitely the breast pump! I recorded it and have used it at least 3 times so far in Destiny. A laser engraver was fun too, for the r2d2 noises in Lorentz

I feel like they missed an opportunity to use stringed instrument sounds in odd ways for the effects instead of...plastic...

We recorded dozens of different things, including instruments!
