Can you confirm that Sphere Specialist will not increase the quickness applied by Spectacular Sphere?
Can you confirm that Sphere Specialist will not increase the quickness applied by Spectacular Sphere?
Sphere Specialist does increase the duration of boons from the trait Spectacular Sphere.
Solar I'm very confused in general by the direction you guys are taking here. The boon adjustments are great. The approach to class balance, however, is confusing me.
What exactly does Catalyst provide that merits its damage reduction when Spectre outperforms it in almost every meaningful capacity? I'd really like to understand what your theory is here, because I'm really not following.
Individually, Catalyst DPS was about 15% higher than any other DPS builds' damage potential. (Next highest being condi Virt, but the gap after that is tiny- nearly everything competes closely.)
Essentially, the gap between Catalyst and the next highest DPS build was greater than the gap between all other effective DPS builds.
And Catalysts also brought Quickness for free when stacked.
There's a reason why a flurry of new raid speed kill records were coming out that were all stacking 7-8 Catalysts.
And, more importantly- we're still expecting Catalyst to be at or right within a very small margin at the very top of PvE build damage potential after this patch.
Hip Shot has been replaced with Rifle Burst. Rifle Burst delivers a quick burst of fire that pierces targets, followed by an explosive grenade. Total damage coefficient increased from 0.65 to 1.0 in PvE only.
omg, if it's no longer Hip Shot, please tell me you've also updated the animation to no longer be this super goofy hip shot one that looks terrible with 99% of Rifle skins. For 10 years I've wanted my engie to use their gun like a real person. Hell, just copy the Warrior animation, its great, and they sure aren't using it!
Yes, Rifle Burst uses a different animation. The rifle is lifted up and aimed for the burst (two piercing bullets + a followup grenade). The Grenade counts as an Explosion for traits.
pew-pew-POW!
Once they’re ready, we plan to add them as rewards for participating in future World Restructuring betas.
Hey. Please don’t. At least, let them be available in the future as well. Don’t lock skins to a beta.
They'll first be available through the betas, but we know that folks will want a way to get them down the road. :)
Untamed continues to dodge any mention.
There are no significant changes for Untamed coming in next week's patch.
It is getting a few damage increases, but I'm not going to claim that's a real solution to making it fun and relevant in PvE right now.
The designer behind Untamed did create it and the tools available to it through a PvP lens, and as such it's very effective there, but that focus on CC and punishing CC'ed targets doesn't translate as effectively to general PvE play or champion/boss encounters.
We're working on several approaches to this problem. Some already snuck out live early- improvements to the user interface and feedback on activating pet skills. More are coming.
The #1 piece of feedback I've seen every time Untamed is brought up is a desire to be able to set the F1 and F3 skills back to a state where the pet can use them automatically when appropriate. And that's absolutely understandable- when you equip the Untamed specialization, your pet now does -less- on its own...
Read moreI would guess traits that you're probably already taking. For example, No Quarter on thief under Critical Strikes.
Thief's actually getting it in Keen Observer- the very first minor trait in Critical Strikes.
But generally, yes. The point was to make it easy to get, as well as making Fury much more commonplace when you have multiple people playing together.
Auto-refresh as in it's 100% passive so long as it's in inventory? Also, just to be certain, this is boosting defense specifically, not toughness? Hoping so since that'll ideally mean it doesn't mess with aggro in certain encounters.
yeah, the original design was toughness, but we didn't want the toughness tank to have the buff expire and then lose aggro, so we changed it to defense.
This is incredibly cool! I love the look of old illuminated manuscripts and medieval tapestries and their bizarro interpretations of animals and anatomy. This captures that perfectly. Thanks for sharing!
everyone will /gg a few times before starting.
When we're designing new features/content, we're always asking ourselves "how will players try to abuse/exploit this?". We don't always catch everything on first pass, but we do catch a lot. :)
Interesting. Wish this post also included Summer roadmap though, we have no news past June 28 update.
From the blog: "We’ll be back in early to mid-July to share our development roadmap through the end of summer."
You'll get a new roadmap before the next release that comes after June 28.
awesome, thanks!

It does work in WvW, but it's a lower amount.
I'm happy with the changes proposed here. Repairing was useless, mouse cursor goes a long way to accessibility, and the story barrier change is very friendly to new players.
At the same time, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't expecting a new roadmap, now that the last one has essentially reached its end. Hoping we get one shortly after the 28th
From the last paragraph of the blog: "We’ll be back in early to mid-July to share our development roadmap through the end of summer. "
So the only info about alliances we got here (even tho we were supposed to get some more betas before summer) was "oh yeah we also named alliances back on our march blog lmao top kek ktnxbai"
There's a blog scheduled for Friday that's dedicated to WvW.
EDIT: This is coming Friday with the balance notes. My mistake. :)
i have a permanent repair canister.... well i hope the buff it gives is worth it
The permanent canister should auto-refresh the buff as well.
Read moreAbout support, please don't forget to consider the ease with which each class can provide a specific boon in a realistic scenario, that could very well be a key factor in what will be wanted and what won't despite whatever a dps benchmark may indicate.
That said, I love your idea. It's something I always wanted, since we moved away from the initial approach to the party composition. It should also make filling parties easier.Don't let the meta settle for to long tho, look what happened to fractals and guardians.
Right now when I look for a HAM+quickDPS two things happen most of the times:
- HFB keep joining, I have to explain each time we already have quick, and sometimes party members get annoyed by the wait to the point of deciding to disband.
- HFB won't keep joining but it will still take considerable amount of time to find a HAM, and someone may leave anyway.Does this mean HAM is not a good healer?
Hell no, but people got so used ...
This is definitely something we're working on, and bit by bit we're revisiting traits and skills to get boon ranges more consistent and approachable to use.
For example:
Quick catalyst will have Quickness front loaded to deploying the sphere, not from sphere ticks, and will have sphere radius increased from 240 to 360.
Chronomancer will likewise have some pain points cleaned up- no more 'last pulse' of wells and needing to shoot Tides of Time through your allies out and in.
Shh! Don't tell Grouch I'm leaking secrets.
You'll get all the details on Friday.
Next step will be letting the meta settle for a bit- and then for the specs that aren't popular, I'll be looking at what they're lacking that is keeping them from being successful.
The goal is still that you should never feel pressured to change professions in order to play with your friends- you should be able to play whichever profession you enjoy the most, and have builds available you can swap to that will fill a needed role in your group.
Chrono alacrity buffs + well reworks? That'd be cool.
Yes
