Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts! I appreciate you guys being constructive on your feelings about the new patch. I've been trying to parse through threads as much as I can.
The current skill gap within the game feels really wide, which can cause problems with retention. A few players so far have shared thoughts mentioning they think a modified sbmm-type system would help lessen the blow towards newer players. I am interested to hear from new players to see what kind of tools might make it easier for them while trying to keep the high skill ceiling of the actual game.

As for cheating, we have put out a blog post detailing our current plans against hackers in the game. We plan to continue to iterate off of that and make further strifes to keep these people out of the game.

We will certainly be digesting feedback from you guys after the Open Beta has ended while we are gearing up for launch.

Make the game good. I wasn't going to play anything but this game up until this patch. All my friends are on console and they were going to play too. Obviously skill based matchmaking is the best way to separate casual players from sweats, but I know making that is not as easy as saying it. However, an addictive fun game will grow.

You can't expect to be COD or Valorant. Modern Warfare was already established as was the CS community. The game needs to grow slowly on a loyal player base that loves the game.

Lowering skill curves is horrible. Fortnite, COD, and Valorant all have massive skill curves. I only mention Valorant because of the common release comparison.

Thank you for explaining your thoughts! Mentioned this on other threads, but the team is being careful with their approach to matchmaking for this reason. You are absolutely correct in that the game still needs to grow a bit more. It is only Open Beta after all.

I personally also agree damage drop off is a quality suggestion for the Protocol.

yeah, skill gaps have always been a big issue in br games. do you think a ranked mode where people only get matched up with players of similar skill would split the playerbase too much? if not, that would solve a lot of problems, even if ranked queue only split people into 2 categories of more skilled (top 50%) and less skilled (bottom 50%). maybe you should even get rid of unranked entirely or just implement this sort of system into the game as it is right now without showing any visual ranks? also, as much as people are criticising the game on this subreddit, i appreciate that youre still willing to listen to it

The important thing for me with criticism is having the ability to open up those comments a bit more and boil it down so I can have an accurate understanding of what is making someone feel that way. It's why being constructive is super important so I can make sure I am fully understanding the feedback accurately to pass it along to the team!

As for your suggestion, I know a lot of hardcore grinders are hoping for a Ranked mode at some point. I like the idea of matchmaking, even for just normal queues, being split into two separate "buckets" of people. I don't think it would be an even 50/50 split, and it may be a bit difficult to determine what would be the "fair" split between two generalized groups of skill. I mentioned on another thread that matchmaking is an important topic to the dev team, and they have been working on several options for it in preparation for launch.

I think it would be nice to have a specific lobby for people who have played less than a certain amount of games.

Lets say you are new to the game, if you have played less than 30 matches, you have the option to play against people who also have played less than 30 games. It does not have to be 30 games exact of course. I also think its important to make that an option so that its possible for newer player to play in normal lobbies if they want to.

I think between 30-50 games should let new players learn a lot about the game without having to worry about experienced players dominating every lobby.

The main problem with this however would be experienced players making smurf accounts to get into lower skilled lobbies. I do think this could be stopped by simply making it so you have to set up 2-step-verification so that you need a phone number in order to gain access to these beginner lobbies. This way (unless you have multiple phone numbers) it would make it ...

I have seen a similar suggestion from the subreddit before! A modified type of SBMM like this would make the transition into the game a bit easier, in my opinion. This way, you aren't being repeatedly smacked by experienced players and have a bit more breathing room to adjust to the game.
Matchmaking is a delicate topic the team has been working on for a while now. They recognize the potential risks and aim to make a balanced experience.

What kind of specific Hack changes did you agree with, if any? What kind of tweaks were you hoping for instead? Did you agree with the Mine changes?
I do appreciate all the details the community has provided so far on specific issues with the patch. We are continuing to digest and record comments regarding the patch to get a better understanding.

arena shooters are already very intuitive. stop trying to make the game more appealing for new people, and focys on making the game good. if it is good, people will play it. word of mouth is still very much a thing, and it is a lot stronger than it seems.

I understand your thinking and agree that word of mouth is very powerful. It is still important to keep in mind the factors of retention. One of the big factors seemed to be a huge skill gap between players. The goal of the changes was to bring that skill gap a bit closer, but it seems many players agree the changes were overturned.
The goal overall is to keep the high kill ceiling so it is still entertaining for players who are trying to grind but also be welcoming for new players to BRs or arena shooters. Not everyone has played Quake, but obviously a lot of players who are still playing the game most likely have experience with Quake. It's still important to not leave out the smaller guys, but it is also as equally important to keep in mind players who enjoy the game.

Appreciate you responding and being open with the community. People will always react super negatively to changes that will force them to change their playstyle just a little bit. This sub, unfortunately, has a very negative hive mind. Please take your time to gather both qualitative and quantitative feedback. The voice of the loud minority in this sub don’t necessarily represents everyone’s thoughts and feeling on the game.

Keep adjusting until you find a happy medium for everyone. Appreciate the effort!

Absolutely! We are definitely keeping that in mind when processing feedback from different platforms. Thank you for the love!

My squad and I played every day we could and it was our favorite game to play together, but none of us even want to touch it right now. Abilities feel absolutely useless and the time to kill is far too fast. When people were saying that the Protocol and Harpy were killing people a little too fast the solution wasn’t to make every weapon kill faster. Harpy used to be a little too overpowered, yet now there’s absolutely no reason to use it because Ripper has the basically the same time to kill but with much less recoil and ammo efficiency.

We loved the abilities in this game, that’s what made it stand out from other battle royales. The slow TTK gave you more time to make big plays with your abilities and made it easier to turn around fights if you make an initial mistake. My squad and I would constantly jump into as many fights as we could because it was just so much fun t...

I appreciate you taking the time to explain more of your thoughts! I agree that the Hacks are a defining feature of Hyper Scape and something that makes the game feel unique. I've seen some comments mention the hack changes hurt the uniqueness of the game. I personally think some of the Hack changes (like Mine) were beneficial to the health of the game. I don't entirely agree with the changes to Ball, since I feel like it was already considered a meme pick for most players.
I personally really enjoyed the higher TTK as it felt fresh. There was a lot of feedback from newer players to arena shooters that the high TTK was a deterrent, especially in solo matches. This seems to be an issue with actual arena shooter games in general, and players struggle to try to adapt to the game. We obviously want to try to keep unique factors of the game, but also make the game welcoming for newer players to want to continue to enjoy the game, hence why I had asked that player on Twitter to expl...

I appreciate the constructive feedback I have been seeing so far.
