I disagree with everyone saying this looks worse. I like it a lot, but I'd just make her orbs a lot darker to be more like black holes rather than weird balls of purple.
Yup, I'm making them darker as we speak. I can't go as dark as it used to be, as that'd go against our current style guide, but I'm trying my best to get the best of both worlds. :)

For base Syndra I do feel like it should be more black as others have pointed out, but maybe you could keep the current 'purple' vfx for her Queen of Diamonds skin? I know that it is not supposed to have different vfx from base considering its price but I personally never liked how dark spheres looked with her design so I think the current purple base vfx could work really well with this particular skin. (Maybe even making the spheres that are flying around her look the same as those when she uses Q since they kinda look like they're made of glass at the moment which would be super cool for this particular skin since she is 'The queen of diamonds')
I also have a complaint about Atlantean Syndra. It doesn't have to do with your update, your update is literally amazing and Atlantean shall now be my favorite, but there's been this weird bug for years now where the spheres...
As you've said, due to the price, I can't change the VFXs for QoD Syndra, no matter how much I'd love to. :C

Can you apply this to the colors of the spheres orbiting her as well? Those are also a bit too purple when she levels up. I think these updates look great though!
Also, did you take the edge off of the sound effect when Snow Day Syndra Q hits any enemy? That was really satisfying :( I still hear it on the ult so I don't know if it's just my imagination.

Because now she has three different types of Qs, rank 1-4 light purple, rank 5 dark purple, but the ones surrounding her are her old ones but they change to the maxed version when her Q or R is maxed?
If the orbs match her R, then why do they not match her Q until it changes to the new one? its much darker than her ability that goes on the ground
I just tested, and they only change once R is maxed. They do refresh when you max Q, but they stay the same (I'm not sure why they refresh though).

Those orbiting orbs match her R, to my knowledge. Not the Q. Changing that behavior would be out of scope, sadly. :(
Cool changes. My one big feedback is just repeating what others have already said here about base Syndra's spheres being so shiny and light purple now. I will really miss the dark "black hole" spheres. But I saw your replies about not being able to do black colours in VFX anymore so I understand. Kinda disappointing but I use her skins anyway so it won't affect me lol. Also I 100% know it was intentional for visual clarity but the addition of the really dark shadow at the perimeter edge of her E makes it looks worse than it did before in my opinion. I understand why it's been added but yea I personally don't like the way that specific area looks. Nice work otherwise <3 Looking forward to see the sphere tweaks you've mentioned already.
We can do blacks! Just not pure 0,0,0 black like it was before. That's a big no-no. But I'm trying something that I think should satisfy most people!
the ult on the snow skin is exceptionally bright and flashy (3:54 in vid) and could be toned down a little :)

So... I usually don't comment these threads. But Syndra is one of my favorite champions.
Honestly it looks pretty dope.
There is only one thing I find iffy; on her E, after the initial wave remains a stiff triangle. I get that the aftereffect adds flavor but it doesn't feel really good to see. Might I suggest replacing it with some cracks on the ground? Adds some weight to the spell with the idea of power.
I don't know if anyone else shares this thought tho so this may be an unpopular take! Other than that, great job really!

I think it's great that you're putting effort into improving Syndra's visual experience. However, I'd prefer the pitch-black balls. They gave the impression of being made of dark matter that could absorb/disintegrate anything they touch, instead of the "evil/corrupt" energy that emanates purple smoke.
Sadly we can't really use pure blacks in VFXs, especially for VFXs that last such a long time. I will however try to tone down the overwhelming purple in her level 5 spells!
I just want to ask, do you know if this hurts her chances of getting an ASU down the line? I know she's probably not a priority, but I saw that some ASUs will be only about smaller changes, like updating textures and animations, and I think Syndra is definetely one who would need those :(

It looks too purple. One of syndra’s iconic designs it’s her PURE BLACK spheres with the electricish magic around it. It gave a very ethereal feel. This looks nice for a skin but not for base syndra.
Sadly we are not allowed to use pure black for VFXs. :(
I can see if I can tone down the intensity of the purples a bit, though.
Is it within the scope of a visual update to tie her orbiting spheres with her R availability? Like Ekko's trail and many other more modern kits, Syndra's Ultimate uses those spheres, but she has them at the beginning of the game and while R is on CD too.
As much as I'd personally love that, it sadly isn't within scope. That'd require quite a refactoring. :(
