I love content like this. The behind the scenes Irelia, Morde, & Panth rework videos were amazing. Would love a more consistent strategy when it comes to pushing out content of this nature.
Thanks! So to pull the curtain back a little (get outta here RiotAether don't DM me on Slack ty), the team that handles this type of video content (the team I'm on, which also includes written content like Champ Insights) has ramped up a lot in terms of size and scalability. But we are a Riot-wide team, meaning we handle all of Riot's games and products like music.
All of this is to say, we're working on itTM
But we also need to work on other games ;)

So how do the producer and designer roles differ?
As the producer, my responsibilities include things like making sure that what we're making is on track to hitting our project goals, making sure that folks on the team empowered and able to do their work to the best of their ability, and making sure we stay on schedule.
For example, we didn't have a super easy way to scale the size of the VFX of the spell you see in the video, so one of my tasks was understanding what issues the artist was facing and working with them and our engineer on the project to figure out what solutions existed, what the feasibility of them were, and which we should go for.
The designer, as the name implies, is responsible for designing Aurelion's abilities. This isn't to say they're off on their own though. The development process is very collaborative so everybody on the team is always sharing ideas, feedback, etc. :) The designer may bring an idea for a spell to the table, and then work with our artists (VFX, SFX, animation) to figure o...
Read moreI thought Stashu was working on this rework though?
Rob is ASol's producer!
I'm a big fan of this type of work. Over time, players find the cracks in champion designs or the game changes such that they don't apply as well. Giving a second pass (What would we do differently if we did it over?) is a great opportunity to breathe life back into stale characters.

...unless?
jk I'm sorry Rob
Quickshot absolutely would if he was casting.
Can confirm.
Cashmiir whoever came up with the title is SPEAKING MY LANGUAGE.

It was a joint effort, but our visual designer Tee (y'all might remember her as Mom Cat from patch notes past) came up with the final!
Read moreThis same Rioter was playing around with an Asol rework years ago as a personal project. I wonder if it will be somewhat similar.
Passive: Something like his current E active that activates after moving straight for a while kind of like Taliyah? Except you have full control of him like Kayn wall walking.
Q: Stand in one spot and breath fire. It follows your cursor and costs mana per second to continue spewing fire. Leaves a burning trail in its wake. Idk what that trail does yet. BTW you can use this ability on towers because star fire melts them in my head and A Sol has a line or something about not caring about them.
W: Live R but resized and re-balanced to be a basic ability. So basically ...
This is that Rioter in the video π
He is an ASol lover
So do we only get champion specific Eternals for Fiddlesticks and Morgana, or is it possible to grind for a Taliyah Eternal?
It is possible! Earn Bonds for Taliyah (check her Guardian Stories section).
This seems like a pretty large nerf to how weekly mission rewards are provided to us: https://i.imgur.com/EdLRQPr.png
Previously, you could buy the event pass in the final week and you'd still be able to do all 4 Weekly Wins missions in order from 1 to 4. Now it seems that if you buy the pass in week 4, you've permanently lost the 750 tokens from weeks 1-3.
Hey, that's not true. This is a mistake in the FAQ, apologies. The weekly missions unlock at a certain time and remain active until the final day deadline.
Just gonna hop in and say that twitch viewership IS NOT the best way to measure a game's overall player engagement.
There's a lot of games on Twitch with lower viewership that are THRIVING in terms of player engagement.
Nice try Rito
Stop acting like you dont know what he is talking about.
You guys f-ed up and should at least try to fix your mistakes.
Besides, a "bad champion only good in low MMR", is miles better than "hey we made this champion really broken for a while because we wanted to fix him, you guys wouldnt mind losing your LP to him or having to permaban him would you?"
His numbers should clearly be tuned downward. I just feel like this balance state existing for 0.1% of Leagueβs lifetime is just not that big of a deal.
Hey Everyone!I want to give some thoughts here.
- Generally it is easier to voice out negative sentiment online versus positive ones. I have so far heard Akali players both for and against the VO changes.
- Generally change takes time to get used to and it will take time for those who love the change to voice out their opinions. Its very common to reject change.
- Ashly is a great VA and have some really great work as Akali including her work as part of Tales of Runeterra video.
That being said,
- I very much understand that the Base VO and the multitude of small variations that makes Akali distinct in our minds (laugh etc), is very beloved and has its own apeal.
- We want Akali to stand in the middle of Zed and Shen as Chaotic Good. The new VO does make Akali more heroic, but potentially lost some of the chaotic/anti-hero elements.
As it stand, it would be hard to re-record lines (with these directions I think Ashly would nail!), but this i...
Read moreWith all do respect mr rito, I dont want to read I mearly want to play. I enjoy the game and that is more then enough for me. There is no need to bring reading into the equation
Fair enough! You'll still get all the rewards either way, so you do you.
We designed that feature for players like yourself! Still, give it a read if you want to later on in the event. It'll still be there and you won't have missed any progress :)
