I look forward to opening Reddit everyday and seeing what new FashionScape you've done. Well done and thank you 😁

I'm always in the trenches defending you (jagex) but idk after this one... You used "fam" unironically.
Is there going to be a watermark or something so that it's distinguishable in screenshots from the main game? I feel like forums will be taken over by "you did this in a private server."
As a South London boy, I use fam all the time and I usually type how I speak :D
I can't go into any specifics, but we are going to be having some elements that help distinguish Zanaris Worlds from the main game and on a personal level, I'm having thoughts about how content from those worlds is going to being shared on social platforms.
So what happens when the server owner stops paying the bills? Everyone just has their progress deleted? The writing seems kind of on the wall for this. It might be okay for community servers where people are socializing for events and such, but why would players want to invest time into leveling up in this if Jerry stops paying the bills and everyone's progress gets deleted?
I'd much rather see officially supported servers. I also hope community servers don't cannibalize future official game modes, because I much rather play something that feels more permanent whether it's tile/region restricted.
We are aware of the potential for a server owner to stop hosting or simply leave an active world due to not wanting to manage it anymore and we want to make sure there are some systems in place to help in that event.
Those discussions are still TBC but the want is there!
Not being funny and i know youve gotta showcase what you have. But the stuff in the blog seems really basic stuff.
I'm hoping Jagex dont do a Jagex and release this and sailing long half baked.
Appreciate the honesty fam! The parameters part of this project is going to be an ever-growing and ever-evolving element that we are going to ensure has a fantastic core base of features when we release.
There are tons more I didn't touch on in this blog and they cover a variety of areas and features within the game and this doesn't touch our want for future plans to have player 'made' content.
I feel like the game is already splintered enough between mains and the garden variety of IM's that exist. This'll also drain appeal from leagues.
I can appreciate it as a dev tool but very scared of the consequences for the playerbase.
Edit: The survey did work for me on mobile
I'm mostly rehashing points from the Stages, so I'd highly recommend watching or going through the extended FAQ in the Discord. But both teams are very aware of the 'devaluing' and 'splitting the playerbase' concerns that players have shared.
To caveat that, I think for Leagues - nothing will replace that imo as new Leagues will have the Old School team working on and coming up with new ideas each time and that combined with a timed competitive event that is shared with the rest of the playerbase makes them so special. Starting at the same time as 1000s and 1000s of players is an amazing feeling!
In terms of dividing, we would like to have it so that you can play on the main game and Zanaris worlds at the same time on the same account which will let you play some funky Zanaris content while grinding on the main.
As for me, I'm going to be keeping a close eye on all the concerns and I want to do my very best to help the team tackle them in a way that doesn't ...

If that's how you feel about the Project I would massively appreciate you putting that and why into the survey fam <3

We want to make sure we're confident with anything involving monetisation before we start talking about it to avoid any mixed messages.
did nobody really think that only showing shitty options because "october" , youre releasing a brand new take on your game and are gonna leave a sour taste over trying to put some dumb seasonal take on the reveal.
There is a lot to unpack with this project and we're only just starting on sharing parameters, features and more. Our main reveal was at the Summer Summit and these future newsposts, Stages and more will be to exist alongside everything else.
I really don't understand Jagex's desire for alternatives to the main game, instead of focusing efforts on the main game. Deadman mode was already Streamer-man mode, and this seems to be Youtube-man mode. Feels like this is a major blunder to spend so much development time on.
Appreciate the concerns for the main game and it's something we are very much aware of among both teams!
The main game will still be the core and foundation for everything Old School and we see this as a seperate project that can compliment the main game. This is part of the reason the team doesn't have any current Old School Devs as we don't want to take them away from the core game for this.
I would massively appreciate it if you could put your concerns in the survey. Cheers fam!
Love the parameters, especially no currencies! Can't wait to see what else the team cooks up.
Also, looks like the "question" that links to the Discord is preventing me from completing the survey.
That's great to hear! Click below to join & check out the Project Zanaris section:
This question is required.
Edit: Looks like the discord "question" is fixed!
Thank you! I've changed this now :) - Edit: you might need to refresh
It’s a bit bleak that the blog only gives examples of negative things to apply per player. In the next update, could we get some examples of things you can beneficially apply to players like xp buffs or new content?
We've teased a few that stuck with the spookiness of October and there will be plenty more to come in the future!
Filled the whole survey in but couldn't submit as the discord link at the end was a "required question".
Thank you for letting me know fam - I've fixed this now!
I'm noticing almost everything discussed in the blog focuses on server rules that disable features, penalize dying, wipe your inventory, etc.
Will there also be options for adding accelerated rates or other buffs? I think a big appeal of leagues is the addition of some hilariously broken mechanics and I would hope these servers don't double down on the ToA/Colosseum style of additions that only serve to make things more difficult.
We've only teased a small handful of parameters that stuck with the vibe of the Spooky Season itself and over the coming months you'll no doubt see many, many more showcased :)
I can play private servers for free that are much more modable what even is the point of this? Why divide the community even more?
Private Servers have and will always be against the Rules of RuneScape and our Terms of Service.
Are there any words on costs and how this will function?
Like will there be a fee to host? Will we need a separate client to play? Will we need to pay separate membership, etc.?
I assume a blog will eventually detail all this?
We'll look to update you on costs and similar topics in a future edition of the preview posts - but as of this current moment, we haven't got any updates just yet!
Read moreA quick test on the dreaded run to PNM in my setup with no stam was a 15 second time save AND I have enough run energy regenerated to get right into the content right away
While it wasnt infinite run, it certainly wasn’t a TP out angle to go get a stam like it is on the main game. It felt more like a minor inconvenience then a thumbs down log out play. That was lvl 80 agi and 45 kg weight.
What about no weight? I got legs for days dam! GE to fally pub like a Friday arvo IRL, no breaks on the beer train, even enough energy left to get a little rowdy!
Graceful + stam mean you never stop running (you regen your stam on all the little stops you have!). This could be seen as a little over tuned but it pretty much hits that “run energy only depletes in of combat”
The changes in the beta fell quite healthy for early, mid and late game accounts, I still feel there could be some potential to add some more ways to fully replenish run energy for new accounts, ...
Love this context! Cheers for leaving such a detailed reply!
Think the biggest pain point with run energy is by far early game questing and exploring for new players. Regen is so slow right now it seems impossible to make it fair/fun just by tinkering with the formula. Personally think solution like the musicians in RS2 where you could rest at certain early game locations and regen very very quickly would be best for new players and also wouldn't affect later game players at all.
Yeah we absolutely have resting in the back pocket, but think in some ways it makes stuff feel even more 'stop-start'. Even if you're walking you get a chance to take in the scenery and get your bearings a little, resting at pre-defined spots is something we're a little on the fence about but not wholly opposed to!
On the subject of early game and making it feel less sluggish. The current proposal makes it so that carrying more at lower agility levels is a lot more punishing. This is when players who are new to the game will be wandering around with random stuff in their inventory like pieces of armor, ores, logs, etc.... would it be worth adding an npc or two in the earlier courses who explain in basic how the run energy and weight system work?
Think this is partly why we're keen on feedback! Would be keen to challenge 'a lot more punishing', at 1 Agility and at max weight, your drain is 14.9% higher but your regen is almost doubled. It's not common to hit 64kg in those super early setups, so we felt in our testing that it more than balanced out when stopping to chat to NPCs for quests or kill a chicken etc. etc.
That said, think there's for sure scope to find a useful place to pop this info in-game somewhere, it's a pretty esoteric system as it currently stands!
