Removes any defensive bonuses, so "Fortify" or the defense bonus from terrain is negated
Causes a defense penalty. Off the top of my head, I think it's 50% Defense.
Ultimately, it makes units easier to kill by lowering their defense
I could be wrong, but I don’t think the Reddit mods work for midjiwan
I do work for Midjiwan
when will this be available for apple arcade?
As soon as we can make it available
It just feels weak, I mean they are supposed to be an economic force early but by turn 1 can be making less than turn zero tribes and you don’t get their eco from city’s till turn 1 meaning you start with no tech and get out eco’d instantly, for example imperius can have +4 stars per turn, and five in the bank by turn 1 and then just scale over you the rest of the game( basically starting with 4 stars per turn), the reason why I like luxidor is because I can choose what part of the tech tree to go down and get what’s needed for the first village I find, but It’s an uphill struggle for eco the entire time.
I like luxidor they just feel a little weak.
I agree that they feel weak, and we want that versatility to be part of their identity.
But they were massively OP at +4 stars
Well, we nerfed them so they wouldnt start with +4 stars/turn.
Just curious, are you guys prioritizing either bringing down T0 tribes or bringing up the other tribes in strength?
Well, we're going to...uhhhh....
NEXT QUESTION!
Yeah, kinda bugs me that there are 12 classic tribe's and only 4-5 are competitively viable. I mean it's ok to have 1-3 "strong" tribes in a meta. But the gap that the top tribes have right now with the others is just way too big.
You make it sound like we planned them to be unbalanced from the start. Nah, Midjiwan just made the game, not really focusing on "competitive balance" as he just developed.
There was no thought about metas or whatever else until later in development.
Dope! I'll make sure Midjiwan sees this.
You guys aren’t going to go full Nintendo and send a cease and desist for making a one off fan board though right?
Right?
Well, we can say that we don't endorse it and prevent sales.
Feel free to design and make your own stuff to play with friends, but don't make money on it without scrubbing off all the Polytopia first.
has the entire development team not even once thought: "hmm maybe we should put it as an option in settings"
We did, trust me.
Midjiwan didn't like any solution that wasn't "Get rid of it entirely."
The official answer is "Because Midjiwan didn't like hearing it, so he removed it."
😭. Well we need an official board. This product added to the awesome selection of polytopia plushies would be welcome.
Right now, Midjiwan doesn't want to sell or endorse a Polytopia board game.
And if he did, it'd most likely not resemble the video game much....intentionally.
Just no Cymanti okay 🤣
Please only make Cymanti
Commenting because this deserved more views and engagement. Let us know if you'll be selling sets!
Technically, selling would probably fall under "copyright infringement".
Please consider that many game mechanics translate poorly from videogame to tabletop (and vice versa).
I suggest these simplifications: - units deal the same amount of damage even if they are at low health (calculating damage for each unit manually is a nightmare) - use a hex grid. You can re-use Catan hexes and movement is smoother - simplify the tech tree
Midjiwan agreed that if there was to ever be a tabletop version of Polytopia, it would have to have little mechanical resemblance to the video game version for that reason.
Quick question. Is there another game going on on the underside of the board, or is there another tribe waiting to strike?
🤫
Look at Big Polytopia over here tryna sell us their fake, “processed” nectar in the name of “making it safe for consumption”. I’m eating it fresh and raw as mother nature intended and you can’t stop me.
Don't worry, I've already called paramedics
If you’re referring about Cymantis’ nectar bubbles to the right of Elyrions’ flower then no, it’s not water droplets. It’s droplets of nectar.
They're also cannonically toxic to humans until they've been "processed" through a Hexapod, first
Oh hey! I got screenshotted!
I always knew that banoos were evil....
