What antivirus app do you use?

Add stellaris.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.

Crimsonlyger said: Correct. The game does not run in fullscreen. It starts to launch and then immediately goes to not responding in task manager. Running in Windowed, or Windowed Bordlerless, at any refresh rate presents the same effect.
That is a shame, as full Screen would probably fix this I think. Your initial paused frame rates in the 400s are - staggering!

If Steam is really the issue, you could have all players opt into the stellaris_test version now in the Steam Betas tab for the game. This uses Paradox MP services instead of Steam's.

So you are in Windowed mode, no Vsync, and desktop at 144hz.

Does the game run in fullScreen for you? If so can you please try changing to enable Vsync and set the game to 60hz?

DXDIAG is a program you run from a command prompt or the Windows start menu 'run' dialog box (or 'search programs' in Windows 7 or later). After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Please attach your Documents/Paradox/Stellaris/settings.txt and pdx_settings.txt .
From your Documents/Paradox/Stellaris/logs/ folder, attach system.log .

Please report the temperatures of your CPU and video (GPU)
1/ before starting the game up and
2/ after say 10 minutes' play.
If your PC's vendor has given you no way of reading temperatures, install

I will bet then it was a glitch in the Xbox world.

All the best!

FYI there is no need to manually activate DLCs in the launcher on any game version; the reason they show there is so you can de-activate them if you want, in fact.

IOW they should all be active all the time in this situation. That some work and some don't is almost certainly nothing to do with the launcher as such, but some game or XBox store issue.

I'm raising this with Paradox tonight, but if you want more direct response form them please lodge a support ticket at paradox.zendesk.com with all applicable details.

Sorry about this problem, whatever the cause!

You can't use the standalone Paradox Client to run the MS store edition of the game, sorry, only the Steam/Paradox edition.

If the DLCs show up in your online account I don't see why they wouldn't install for you. But I don't know how MS handle such things; I know on the PS4 the users have to manually download each DLC!

If you've done a full reinstall of the game that surely should have installed them! Have you contacted their support?

Just to check - you bought these DLCs from the MS Xbox store? Not say from us or Steam or elsewhere?

If so, do they show as bought in your Xbox account online? I ask because it's really up to them to deliver product you bought from their store to the game installation via their client!

Sorry, you are right, no 72 - how odd! I have that available on my GeForce 1060. I guess it is the monitor that's the difference, and perhaps Gsync.

ComplexIvano said: 144 (the monitor native refresh rate).
Not according to your dxdiag.txt:
Monitor Name: AOC AG271QG
Monitor Model: AG271QG
Monitor Id: AOC2713
Native Mode: 2560 x 1440(p) (59.951Hz)

Next to test would be 72. You can see what rates are technically supported at the end of that system.log file you attached.

In the game's launcher please set refreshRate=60 (or 59 if that is offered) , does that help?

If not, then enable Vsync in there, any better?

Has this always happened ever since you've had the game? Or only since what change or update?

Does this affect EU4 or CK2 also?

If you save and exit the game, then start it up again and load that same save, does it start again immediately? Or do you need to wait 60-80 years in the game again?

I see, I was unaware of that.

I guess this should be logged as a bug, even though I suppose it is more of a design or missing feature issue. Are you okay to do that in Bug Reports here?

Thiago Baptista said: Just to clarify something: there WERE files in that folder before. I tried restoring them through the operating system (an option under the context menu in Windows Explorer), but the last backup was from three weeks ago.
There's certainly nothing in the game that deliberately deletes saves from anywhere. So i cannot explain what happened to those save files.

Thiago Baptista said: I opened the save game folder in Windows Explorer at %HOME%/Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/save games and, indeed, the folder was empty?
That is expected as only local saves are written there.

Under Steam a local cache of cloud saves is written here:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\\281990\remote\save games\

I'm not familiar with how GoG does these things but I'd assume they have a similar location, you may need to contact them if you can't find it. Perhaps a search for *.sav files would find them? ... Read more

Does running stelleris.exe get you into the game?

Please attach here the three .log files from:
C:/users//AppData/Roaming/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2/

Please try this:

- exit the Steam app completely
- uninstall Paradox Launcher v2 from the Windows "Apps and features" utility, if still present.

Delete the following folders if still present:
- C:/users//AppData/Local/Programs/Paradox Interactive/
- C:/users//AppData/Local/Paradox Interactive/
- C:/users//AppData/Roaming/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2/

- run steam.exe as the Windows Admin user
- run Stellaris from the Steam PLAY button

I hope that works for you!

If not though, try running stellaris.exe directly. Does that at least get you into the game itself?
