I'm afraid I have no ability to repair bugged save game files. You could try the good folks over in the User Mods forum.

As to the bug, please make a new thread in Bug Reports and attach the save there for QA to look into.

Sorry for that problem!

The_obZen said: Same problem here. The game runs fine from the command line, but on Steam it crashes during loading
In future please start your own thread, thanks.

Did you try disconnecting the machine from the internet, starting the game, then connecting again if the game runs?

And, disable the Steam overlay - does that help?

I don't actually play this game myself, but I don't recall such reports here.

Is this in all unmodded galaxies, regardless of size or number of leaders?

Right from the start of a new galaxy, or only in mid or late game play?

Has it always been like this for you, or was okay up to some point?

Right-click on stellaris.exe, properties, compatibility. Tick "disable fullscreen optimizations" untick every other box in that dialog, Apply, and exit.
Then in the launcher Game Settings menu, select the fullScreen display mode, Vsync off, refresh rate 60.

THEN test with a new unmodded galaxy.

If that doesn't help:
DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file th... Read more

What missing DLLs are these please?

Has this game ever worked on this computer?Or never yet?

If there are no logs then the game is not even attempting to start. Which is more likely a launcher or Linux issue.

What happens if you run ./stellaris from a command line in Terminal?

So the launcher itself runs okay? These problems only start when you hit PLAY in the launcher (or run ./stellaris)?

Please attach here your Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/settings.txt and pdx_settings.txt .
From your Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/logs/ folder, attach here system.log , error.log , exceptions.log

Also in Steam please click on Steam-Help-System Info, and paste everything there into a text file and attach that here.

If this crash is repeatable from that save file, this is very likely a game bug so we will not be able to address it here - it will need a code patch to fix.

Please make a new thread in Bug Reports and attach the save there for QA to look into.

Sorry for that problem!

Sorry, is this the launcher or the game crashing? I can't tell from that screenshot.

If the launcher: run the game ./stellaris in a terminal command line - does it start up then?

Unusual errors 1619 and 1620, but still. definitely an issue in the Windows installation service msexec.exe

ERROR_INSTALL_PACKAGE_OPEN_FAILED 1619 This installation package couldn't be opened. Verify that the package exists and is accessible, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer package.
ERROR_INSTALL_PACKAGE_INVALID 1620 This installation package couldn't be opened. Contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer package.

Try deleting the .msi file in the Steam-Stellaris folder, then do a Steam Verify to make it come down again.

If that doesn't help, try this one instead:

If this is repeatable from a save game file, AND there are no mods involved, then it is almost certainly a game bug, I'm afraid. Please make a new thread in the Bug Reports forum and attach that save there for QA to look into.

As for repairing the save, that's not really a service we offer. You might try asking the good folks over in User Mods if they can help, as they are accustomed to looking into those files to find problems.

Good luck and sorry for that problem!

If this reproducible from a save file, and there are no mods at all in use, please make a new thread in Bug Reports and attach the problem save there. Thanks.

As far as rescuing the save game, the good folks over in User Mods may be able to help.

Good luck!

Please try this:

- uninstall Paradox Launcher v2 from the Windows "Apps and features" utility, if still present.

Delete the following folders if still present:

- C:/users/{userName}/AppData/Local/Programs/Paradox Interactive/
- C:/users/{userName}/AppData/Local/Paradox Interactive/
- C:/users/{userName}/AppData/Roaming/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2/
To see the AppData folder you'll need to enable View Hidden Items in File Explorer.

- exit the Steam app entirely
- run steam.exe as the Windows Admin user

- run the game from the PLAY button in Steam

IF that doesn't help, in this folder are some .log files:
C:/users/{userName}/AppData/Local/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2/
Please attach them here.
To see the AppData folder you'll need to enable View Hidden Items in File Explorer.

Revert to 3.9.2 in the Steam Betas tab for the game. Can you load and play that save then?

That is disappointing, that means you have a different issue to everyone else. Quite what I do not know!

Please do a full **clean** re-install, now the new patch is out:

- move any valued save games elsewhere, and user empire designs.txt from /Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/ if you have made any custom empires or races.
