No mention of this game in that dxdiag which is unusual for a won't-start issue like this. But you may as well update that nVidia driver to the May 2021 version:

Then you might try all opting into that crossplay beta, as that uses Paradox MP services instead of Steam. If that helps you probably have some Steam ports blocked somewhere:

Did you mean to post this in the Bug Reports forum, perhaps?

Well that's something anyway.

What antivirus app do you use?
Add CK3.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.

I see nothing in those files to explain this; in Steam please click on Steam-Help-System Info, and paste everything there into a text file and attach that here.

I just updated to 3.0.3 on the Paradox client on Windows just fine. 3.0.3 would not install on Linux, but 3.0.2 would then I could update to 3.0.3 just fine. Weird stuff!

What happens now when you try to update to 3.0.3 ?

Is it that the launcher doesn't run? Or it runs but won't start the game?

In this folder are some .log files:
C:/users//AppData/Local/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2/
Please attach them here.

In the game launcher please set Display mode to windowed. THEN go here:

The latest supported Visual C++ downloads

This article lists the download links for the latest versions of Visual C++. support.microsoft.com support.microsoft.com And run the x86 and x64 installers there.

IF that doesn't help, Has the game ever run OK on this computer? Or never?

CK2 does not use the new launcher. If it does not run you have other problems!

The others you can run directly from eu4.exe and hoi4.exe in file explorer, which bypasses the launcher.

Your launcher logs are all over the place, let's try forcing an update of the launcher.

Download the installer package for Windows: ... Read more

Now we only see a default Microsoft sound driver installed - no nvidia or RealTek. Can you get a proper RealTek driver installed?

None of our games have been ported to native code for the M1 chip, no. But in general they run okay under the Rosetta emulation.

Yours is the identical issue, it hangs at 5%?

If I can get those log files I may be able to comment further.

Let's try forcing an update of the launcher.

Download the installer package for Windows: https://forumcontent.paradoxplaza.com/emailsignatures/2021.4.1-win-prod.zip

Unpack the file you just downloaded and place the three files in the Steam folder for the game you're having issues with. If asked if you want to replace already existing files click "yes" - that's a sign you are in the right place!

Then:
- exit the Steam app entirely
- uninstall Paradox Launcher v2 from the Windows "Apps and features" utility, if still present.

Delete the following folders if still present:

- C:/users//AppData/Local/Programs/Paradox Interactive/
- C:/users//AppData/Local/Para... Read more

When this happens, try the last_save.ck3 file in Documents/paradox interactive/ck3/ - does that load okay?

It is hard to see how being in Ironman makes any difference to the save process - the saves it does are the equivalent of a user doing a manual save in a non-Ironman game.

How about the last_save.ck3 file in Documents/paradox interactive/ck3/ - is it updated when you exit the game?

Your AMD video driver is from 2015, I'm sure that is the issue here.

- uninstall it with this tool:
https://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-articles/Pages/AMD-Clean-Uninstall-Utility.aspx - reboot
- install the very latest from here:
http://support.amd.com/en-us/download - reboot again

All the best!

No real ideas on this one, I have to say. The previous game CK2 is free to play on Steam now, does that have the same problem?

Please attach your Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/pdx_settings.txt .
From your Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/logs/ folder, attach system.log , error.log

Also in Steam please click on Steam-Help-System Info, and paste everything there into a text file and attach that here.

The crash in that exceptions log is in FMOD which is the sound system, very unusual. The only sound driver you have installed is the nVidia one, can that be right? Your system board has no sound hardware? If it does you should install a driver for it.

That's an old version of our client, it is up to beta-63 now i think. Something must be stopping it updating. Do make sure all traffic to and from api.paradoxplaza.com and api.paradox-interactive.com is allowed through all your firewalls.

Lots of errors in that log which I'm sure are not normal. you are 100% sure no mods are in use here?

Please do a full **clean** re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere, and user_empire_designs.txt from /Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/ if you have made any custom empires or races.
- "uninstall" in Steam-Stellaris
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/Stellaris AND Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris folders
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- add stellaris.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.
- start the game with no mods active and test

In particular you need to make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam Stellaris or Documents Stellaris locations, before installing again.
