The game is not supported on Intel video systems on MacOS. But that wouldn't usually cause crashes, just slowness.

What temperatures do you see for the GPU and CU in the main game menu? After say 5 minutes of play? I use Macs Fan Control to read temps but there are other apps of course.

It is QA that monitor the Bug Reports forum, not the developers themselves. QA do read every post there, even if not responded to.

But are those crashes specifically the possible memory leak you mention, with the same mods you see these problems in?

That's because your antivirus app has quarantined it, and perhaps bootstrapper-v2.exe as well. You need to release them from quarantine and tell your AV app to leave them alone in future.

The last major update of EU4? I guess that would be 1.30 released on 9 Jun 2020 - you've had this problem ever since then, over 6 months?

You should check that all the required Steam ports are allowed through all your firewalls, as the new eu4.exe. in that patch may not be in your firewall exceptions lists:

We now have reports of this on AVG, Avast and possibly Kaspersky.

You need to make sure all these apps are in its exceptions lists:

dowser.exe (in the Steam CK3 folder)
C:/users//AppData/Local/Programs/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2.2020.16/paradox launcher.exe
C:/users//AppData/Local/Programs/Paradox Interactive/bootstrapper-v2.exe

Good luck!

DXDIAG is a program you run from a command prompt or the Windows start menu 'run' dialog box (or 'search programs' in Windows 7 or later). After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Please attach your Documents/Paradox/CK3/pdx_settings.txt .
From your Documents/Paradox/CK3/logs/ folder, attach system.log , error.log

I see, we don't monitor the Steam forums I'm afraid.

Can you see if this has been reporting in the Bug Reports forum here?

So the launcher itself seems okay? Is it the current version 2020.16 or something else?

Can you run the game with ck3.exe directly from Windows Explorer? If not, DXDIAG is a program you run from a command prompt or the Windows start menu 'run' dialog box (or 'search programs' in Windows 7 or later). I'm not across all reported bugs in this or any game, you could try searching the Bug Reports forum.

If this only happens with large mods, that doesn't really sound like a game memory leak I have to say, but instability caused by those mods. Have the mod authors commented on this?

SteelCrow said: because paradox launcher.exe doesn't exist in that folder. It exists in 'launcher-v2.2020.11' but not 'launcher-v2.2020.16'
A lot of other files are missing from 'launcher-v2.2020.16' as well, in comparison to 'launcher-v2.2020.11'
Furthermore, my intuition tells me there need only be one version of the launcher on my computer, yet here is an older version alongside an incomplete newer one.
It is normal for the install of a new launcher version to leave the older version there.

However if Paradox Launcher .exe is missing from the 2020.16 folder, that is the prob... Read more

Those first three are not valid paths for this game in Steam? Do those files really exist there?

In any case the bootstrapper error is caused by Avast quarantining these files:

Looks like your antivirus app is getting in the way:

In the game launcher please set Display mode to Borderless.

IF that doesn't help, Has the game ever run successfully on this computer? Or never?

IF IT USED TO RUN:
Please do a full **clean** re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere, and user_empire_designs.txt from /Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/ if you have made any custom empires or races.
- "uninstall" in Steam-Stellaris
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/Stellaris AND Documents/Paradox/Stellaris folders
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- add stellaris.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.
- start the game with no mods active and test

In particular you need to make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam Stellaris or Documents Stellaris locations, before... Read more

Has this always happened ever since you've had this game? Or only since when?

Does this also affect our similar games Stellaris, CK2, and HOI4? Or only EU4? because they use the same MP services as EU4.

- exit the Steam app entirely
- uninstall Paradox Launcher v2 from the Windows "Apps and features" utility, if still present.

Delete the following folders if still present:

- C:/users//AppData/Local/Programs/Paradox Interactive/
- C:/users//AppData/Local/Paradox Interactive/
- C:/users//AppData/Roaming/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2/
To see the AppData folder you'll need to enable View Hidden Items in File Explorer.

- run steam.exe as the Windows Admin user

- run the game from the PLAY button in Steam

IF that doesn't help, in this folder are some .log files:
C:/users//AppData/Local/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2/
Please attach them here.
