The alternative to borderless mode is to go into properties-compatibility for stellaris.exe and tick the Disable fullScreen Optimisations box.

Okay, so in fullScreen you can only use 3840x2160., is that right? Is this because other resolutions do not show in the launcher? Or they show but don.t stick in some way?

If you do use that resolution, and up the GUI scaling to say 1.2 , is that more usable for you?

You should go into properties-compatibility in stellaris.exe and tick the Disable fullScreen Optimizations box, that might help. I hope so!

grotaclas said: My guess is that the crash is from the steam networking code. Maybe it gets passed an invalid pointer from eu4/ck2.
But why would that be from just this one user? After all everyone is using the same Steam and game code!

I see, very hard to understand what could be causing this for you.

Do you have access to any other machine, either in that location or elsewhere, to test this problem on?

You mention shutting off a firewall, I assume that was the Windows Defender one. How about in your internet router/modem?

I believe in this game that "fullScreen" really means borderless windowed, there is no true fullScreen option.

Windowed mode using the same resolution as your Windows desktop will fill the screen, yes. You'd need to reduce it.

What happens if you set the framerate cap in the game to, say , 60? Do you still see the same symptoms?

You should be able to use any of the resolutions listed at the end of that system.log file.

You are in windowed mode i see - is it any different in borderless or fullScreen?

You say "currently" - it hasn't always been like this for you? If that is so, what change or update occurred in your system and network between the last time you could play MP okay, and the first time this happened?

What happens when you try to host?

Our similar game Crusader Kings 2 is now free to play on Steam, does it have the same problem?

I see, so all that eliminated was one PCI slot. Is there any way you can test that video card in another machine, or another card in this machine?

Sorry, what list is that? Your Paradox games here, so just CK2 basically?

DER_Baumi said: the displays in the game are very small as a result.
You can adjust the UI scaling in the game's video options menu. Usually a factor between 1.2 and 1.5 is right for most people.

That said, I don't understand why you couldn't change to any other supported resolution. DXDIAG is a program you run from a command prompt or the Windows start menu 'run' dialog box (or 'search programs' in Windows 7 or later). After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and ... Read more

Does this mean the problem followed the GPU to another machine? If so then it's pretty clearly a hardware fault with it.

I can't explain how you get this in 80% of your games; while you are obviously not the only one seeing it, if it was that prevalent the game would be more or less unplayable by everyone! And we know it is not.

Anyway I'll see if I can get dev attention on this back here, as my attempt above was obviously not successful, perhaps due to the winter break.

What launcher version do you see? Current is 2020.16

If that is okay, Please try the following:

- unsubscribe from all mods
- delete the folder Documents/paradox/Stellaris/mod/
- delete the file Documents/paradox/Stellaris/mods_registry.json
- delete the file Documents/paradox/Stellaris/launcher-v2.sqlite
- subscribe to a few mods
- run the game up and see if those mods are now available to you.

I hope that does it for you!

stellaris_beta ought to be identical to the current Steam version, except for using Paradox MP instead of Steam.

Since you are not on Steam you use a version of this game that uses Paradox MP services, not Steam's . Your friend on Steam by default uses Steam's MP services, but if they opt into stellaris_beta they will then be in the Paradox MP universe and you'll be able to play each other.

I doubt it very much, but you could do a clean reinstall again (as per post #7 above), changing your Steam download region before installing again so it comes from a different Steam server.

Your friend will have to opt into the stellaris_beta version, in the Steam Betas tab for this game. That uses Paradox MP services instead of Steam's.

What if you both opt into the stellaris_beta version, in the Steam Betas tab for this game? That uses Paradox MP services instead of Steam's.
