You can disable them in the Steam Manage My DLCs page in this game's entry in your Steam Library.

In the game launcher please set Display mode to Borderless.

IF that doesn't help, Has the game ever run successfully on this computer? Or never?

IF IT USED TO RUN:
Please do a full **clean** re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere, and user_empire_designs.txt from /Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/ if you have made any custom empires or races.
- "uninstall" in Steam-Stellaris
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/Stellaris AND Documents/Paradox/Stellaris folders
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- add stellaris.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.
- start the game with no mods active and test

In particular you need to make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam Stellaris or Documents Stellaris locations, before... Read more

If you disable autosaves does this still happen?

Is there a performance hit at the same time as these jumps, or are they purely cosmetic?

Has it happened ever since you've had the game, or just recent patches?

DXDIAG is a program you run from a command prompt or the Windows start menu 'run' dialog box (or 'search programs' in Windows 7 or later). After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Please attach your Documents/Paradox/CK3/pdx_settings.txt .
From your Documents/Paradox/CK3/logs/ folder, attach system.log , error.log

You can create a second Windows user on this same machine, log in as that and try the install that way. If that still fails I think your Windows store/gamepass setup in Windows is broken, I'm sorry. You'd need Windows support help with that.

How have you done that, please?

Do these mods end up in Documents/paradox/CK3/mod/ ?

Let's try forcing an update of the launcher.

Download the installer package for Windows: https://forumcontent.paradoxplaza.com/emailsignatures/2020.14-win-prod.zip

Unpack the file you just downloaded and place the three files in the Steam folder for the game you're having issues with. If asked if you want to replace already existing files click "yes" - that's a sign you are in the right place!

Then:
- exit the Steam app entirely
- uninstall Paradox Launcher v2 from the Windows "Apps and features" utility, if still present.

Delete the following folders if still present:

- C:/users//AppData/Local/Programs/Paradox Interactive/
- C:/users//AppData/Local/Paradox In... Read more

Yes, Steam updates mods automatically too.

Most likely the mods you are using are not updated to work with 2.8 yet.

While I'm not 100% sure it is causing your problem, this game is not supported on Intel video hardware so I don't think we're going to be able to fix this here I'm sorry.

Whether updates to Mesa or Intel video drivers might help I'm not sure; it might be worth taking this up with Arch or Mesa support - the nature of the problem might suggest to them where the problem is.

Good luck with that!

Just check that as it's pretty much your only hope for recovering them. In Windows Explorer click on View up the top and tick File Extensions.

If no good, they are corrupted I'm afraid. You could look in Documents/paradox/ck3/ for last_save.ck3 - conceivably that one is okay!

I don't know then. Can you try on another machine? Or another Windows user on this machine?

Toggling beta off and reinstalling the launcher ought to get you onto 2020.14 now.

Well no, as 0 mb means it is empty. Look in documents/paradox/ck3/ is there a last_save.ck3 there, if so is it a more normal size? If so move it into documents/paradox/ck3/save games/ , and see if it can load then.

Looking at that URL you are trying to sign into an internal Paradox server (sandbox), which does not use standard Paradox logins. Are you in a beta programme or something?

BTW you should opt out of the launcher beta as 2020.14 is the public version now.

Do they end in .ck3 or anything else such as .ck3.tmp ? You may have to go into their properties to check for sure.

If anything other than .ck3 you could rename them to end in .ck3 and they may well be able to load then.

Hmmm. I haven't seen other such reports. Can you install any other game or app with those utilities?

No, Steam will apply the latest version automatically. Use the technique that @ThatDaniel mentioned instead.
