That's an odd situation, you'd think if that was a bug we'd have more reports of this.

Can you try doing a test installation on any other machine? Just to see if it's a problem on this machine or somethign else.

I am not going to format my PC just for Stellaris. I have lots of other games, I am also using it as a work station for homeoffice and I have no issues whatsoever.
I now see you have a gamepad plugged in, please try unplugging that before starting the game.

IF that doesn't help, In the game launcher please set Display mode to Borderless.

IF that doesn't help, Please do a full **clean** re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere, and user_empire_designs.txt from /Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/ if you have... Read more

Please try the following:

- unsubscribe from all mods
- delete the folder Documents/paradox/Stellaris/mod/
- delete the file Documents/paradox/Stellaris/mods_registry.json
- delete the file Documents/paradox/Stellaris/launcher-v2.sqlite
- subscribe to a few mods
- run the game up and see if those mods are now available to you.

I hope that does it for you!

Always start via Steam, you should not ever have to run the launcher installer manually.

DXDIAG is a program you run from a command prompt or the Windows start menu 'run' dialog box (or 'search programs' in Windows 7 or later). After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Please attach your Documents/Paradox/CK3/pdx_settings.txt .
From your Documents/Paradox/CK3/logs/ fol... Read more

We now think this is an issue with dual CPU systems.
Processor: AMD A4-4000 APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics (2 CPUs), ~3.0GHz
CPU or GPU slightly below the minimum requirements should not cause a crash like this. If that is confirmed there will be a hotfix soon to address that problem.

Sorry about that!

In the meantime you can revert the game to version 1.03 in the Steam Betas tab for the game, which does not have that problem.

Let's try forcing an update of the launcher.

Download the installer package for Windows: https://forumcontent.paradoxplaza.com/emailsignatures/2020.13-win-prod.zip

Unpack the file you just downloaded and place the three files in the Steam folder for the game you're having issues with. If asked if you want to replace already existing files click "yes" - that's a sign you are in the right place!

Then please repeat the launcher reinstall procedure from post #7 above.

Good luck with that!

We can't see what the CPU is in that dxdiag, weirdly. In Windows Explorer right click on "This PC", properties. What does it say next to Processor?

Yes, what antivirus app do you use? Add CK3.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.

You may need to add steam.exe and C:/users//AppData/Local/Programs/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2.2020.13/paradox launcher.exe to that list.

Nothing in there either I'm afraid. This is a very strange one!

I do see Windows has only just been installed. Please Install ALL these Microsoft modules:

Download Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86) from Official Microsoft Download Center ...

Not that I can disclose as yet, I'm sorry!

But can you not revert to game version 1.03 and play, as with this issue on Windows?

Please do a full **clean** re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "uninstall" in Steam-CK3
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/CK3 AND Documents/Paradox/CK3 folders
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- add CK3.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.
- start the game with no mods active and test

In particular make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam CK3 or Documents CK3 locations, before installing again.

Sorry but we cannot help with modded games here, please try the User Mods forum.

If you get any problem in a campaign that's never had any mods used in it, let us know here.

Is this just in one particular save/campaign, or also in any new one you start?

This game uses Paradox MP services, not Steam's , so yes a login is necessary.

VanAuger said: I tried to reinstall the launcher. Still the same issue.

Yes I'm aware of that but when I go into my hard drive trough the NVidia experience and try to pin point it, CK3 won't show up in the folder. I also tried to scan the steam folder and Ck3 folder but no game shows up. It's really strange. But it's not only Ck3 there's a lot of other games that I cannot find as well.
I've never seen those two crashes in paradox launcher.exe you have in that dxdiag. In this folder are some .log files:
C:/users//AppData/Local/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2/
Please attach them ... Read more
