I've never seen anything like this:
[17:23:44][pdx_data_factory.cpp:912]: Could not find data system function 'Linie'
[17:23:44][pdx_data_factory.cpp:697]: Failed converting statement for 'Linie'
and frankly have no idea what could cause that.

Did your clean reinstall look like this?
- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "uninstall" in Steam-CK3
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/CK3 AND Documents/Paradox/CK3 folders
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- add CK3.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.
- start the game with no mods active and test

We now think this is an issue with dual CPU systems.

CPU or GPU slightly below the minimum requirements should not cause a crash like this. If that is confirmed there will be a hotfix soon to address that problem.

Sorry about that!

In the meantime you can revert the game to version 1.03 in the Steam Betas tab for the game, which does not have that problem.

You mention performance issues in your title but not in your text - can you clarify please?

Your borderglow issue may be another aspect of this issue I suspect:

I'm so glad, I'm not alone with it. After the new patch, If have counties both end of the map, the scrolling is lagging both in pause or any game speed. Starting a new game with few counties solved the problem, but I want my empire back. Maybe 16gb ram is not enough? I have a amd 3600 with gtx 1080. Lowering the graf doesn't help. It is not fps lag instead game lag.
Did you try the clean reinstall I described? As mentioned above that did help one user for sure.

Did clean reinstall, update amd and windows drivers, disable steam overlay, disable autosave/cloudsave, verify files in steam, disable full screen optimization in ck3.exe. My specs: Radeon rx580 and amd ryzen 5 2600 six core. 16gb ram. Maybe it is something with the september amd driver update and ck 3 update, my other some more demanding games run normal. I have no time to play this weekend and early next week and I saw that there probably will be another fixx/patch. English is...

Okay then, seems like a bug! Please make a new thread bug reports forum on the topic (if there isn't one already) . If you can get screenshots or videos demonstrating it, that would be great - thanks!

DXDIAG is a program you run from a command prompt or the Windows start menu 'run' dialog box (or 'search programs' in Windows 7 or later). After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Please attach your Documents/Paradox/CK3/pdx_settings.txt .
From your Documents/Paradox/CK3/logs/ folder, attach system.log , error.log

There are a bunch of concerning errors at the end of that dxdiag which I haven't seen before, but nothing of significance that mentions this game.

You may as well update that nVidia driver:
Download Drivers | NVIDIA
Your symptoms sound exactly like the issue we get on some nVidia setups, but in fullScreen only, not windowed or borderless.

Try this: right click on stellaris.exe , properties, compatibility. Untick everything in there if ticked, then tick "disable fullScreen optimisations". Apply and exit. Then in ... Read more

From those logs the launcher is on at least 2020.11 possibly 2020.12, is that right? If so that should be okay and not causing an issue with the game.

For the game issue, In the game launcher please set Display mode to Borderless.

Add stellaris.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.

Also if you have FRAPS or the MSI Gaming App or Rivatuner installed, disable it as it clashes with this game.

If that doesn't help:

Another person which this problem here found a clean reinstall fixed it for them, so please try that too:

- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.

- start the game with no mods active and test

In particular make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam CK3 or Documents CK3 locations, before installing again.

Is it just you seeing this in your MP games? Or other players too?

Are you seeing this in any campaign started after the 1.1.2 patch? Because it should be fixed there.

If the game has never run on this machine I doubt reinstalling will help, but to answer your question:

- move any valued save games elsewhere, and user_empire_designs.txt from /Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/ if you have made any custom empires or races.
- "uninstall" in Steam-Stellaris
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/Stellaris AND Documents/Paradox/Stellaris folders
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- add stellaris.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.

Please try this:

- exit the Steam app entirely
- uninstall Paradox Launcher v2 from the Windows "Apps and features" utility, if still present.

Delete the following folders if still present:

- C:/users//AppData/Local/Programs/Paradox Interactive/
- C:/users//AppData/Local/Paradox Interactive/
- C:/users//AppData/Roaming/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2/
To see the AppData folder you'll need to enable View Hidden Items in File Explorer.

- run steam.exe as the Windows Admin user

- run the game from the PLAY button in Steam

IF that doesn't help, in this folder are some .log files:
C:/users//AppData/Local/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2/
Please attach them here.

Note that you can run ck3.exe directly from Windows Explorer, which bypasses the launcher.

Oh really? Even stranger ... but can you clarify what you mean by "switch character modes"?
