Macs use openGL as a video standard instead of DirectX that Windows users. OpenGL is much much slower.

Pinty said: What do you mean exactly with the refresh rate? Is my laptop not performing up to expectations. I mean, when the game works, it runs really smoothly on decent graphics.
Yours is running at the most common rate 60hz, which is fine. Some rigs run at 72, 120 or even 144hz which can drive video cards crazy.

Please do a full **clean** re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "uninstall" in Steam-CK3
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/CK3 AND Documents/Paradox/CK3 folders
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- add CK3.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.
- start the game with no mods active and test

In particular make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam CK3 or Documents CK3 locations, before installing again.

If those don't help:

I thought I was going to see a really high refresh rate there but it doesn't seem so.

Interesting you mention Avast, I have seen other reports of it crashing this game every few minutes. Can i ask you to check with their support on how to 100% except the game from it?

And what CPU and GPU temperatures are you seeing in the game?

Yes, I suggest you revert to the last Recommended driver for that card, May 2020. That optional driver causes problems with at least one of our other games, Surviving Mars.

Anywhere will do, as long as you can then find it and attach it here then, so i can read it.

I'm afraid not - on Steam achievements are entirely managed by Steam , there is no mechanism to sync ones you earned on non-Steam platforms into Steam.

Sorry about that!

What AV app do you have? I've just seen one report that Avast did exactly this to another user.

Just get this file made and posted here please, I think I explain it fairly clearly:

DXDIAG is a program you run from a command prompt or the Windows start menu 'run' dialog box (or 'search programs' in Windows 7 or later). After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

We've had one report this helped this issue, please try it!

In the Windows search box enter Xbox and choose Xbox Networking under Settings. Wait until it has finished checking the network then hit “Fix it”.

We are mostly seeing this with the Windows version in fact. I assume you were on Linux?

If you can log in okay you do not have the problem being discussed in this thread. If you have the wrong checksum in the MP lobby compared to your friend, one of you has a bad installation. DLCs have nothing to do with it. Current version and checksum is 1.02 713d , whoever does not that should do a Steam verify or a clean reinstall.   ...

Run a Steam Verify operation against. the game, see if that finds anything to fix.

If not DXDIAG is a program you run from a command prompt or the Windows start menu 'run' dialog box (or 'search programs' in Windows 7 or later). I've had one case like this resolved this way:

In the Windows search box enter firewall. Click on “Allow an app through the firewall” . Scroll through the list there, you’ll probably see CK3 there already. Both the Private and Public boxes should be ticked; if either are not click on Change Settings up the top then check both boxes and Ok that change. Then scroll down further and check the same for Paradox Launcher and Steam.

It is expected that launcherpath does not exist before installing the launcher. It gets created after the launcher installs. What you are seeing there is just a check by the installer to see whether this is a new installation or not.

That msiexec log stops very quickly, I haven't seen that before, The 1619 error can be that you already have some other installation in progress, or at least Windows thinks you do. In Task Manager-processes do you see MSIEXEC running? If so, kill it. If not, run the Updater app in Windows, does that run okay? Install anything?

Let's try forcing an update of the launcher.

Download the installer package for Windows: https://forumcontent.paradoxplaza.com/emailsignatures/2020.11-win-prod.zip

Unpack the file you just downloaded and place the three files in the Steam folder for the game you're having issues with. If asked if you want to replace already existing files click "yes" - that's a sign you are in the right place!

Then please repeat the launcher reinstall procedure from before.

Good luck with that!
