In the game launcher set display mode to borderless.

IF that doesn't help, Has the game ever run successfully on this computer? Or never?

IF IT USED TO RUN:
Please do a full **clean** re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere, and user_empire_designs.txt from /Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/ if you have made any custom empires or races.
- "uninstall" in Steam-Stellaris
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/Stellaris AND Documents/Paradox/Stellaris folders
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- add stellaris.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.
- start the game with no mods active and test

In particular you need to make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam Stellaris or Documents Stellaris loca... Read more

Okay, but I'm not recommending running the Paradox Launcher as Windows Admin, just Galaxy itself, for the purpose of getting the launcher installed properly.

What launcher version shows please? can I get all 3 launcher logs?

I just had a report from another nVidia user on a similar game, who had this until they turned off anti-aliasing - can you try that please?

I'm not familiar with Norton 360 but do make sure all these games are in its exceptions list.

I see you have OneDrive running, has it perhaps grabbed the Windows User Documents folder?

A few apps and utilities in there I'm not familiar with:

EarTrumpet.exe
SteelSeriesEngine3.exe
and all those Pivot Portrait apps/utilities

Can you try unloading those and see if that helps at all?

In the Windows search box enter msconfig . Go to Boot-Advanced. If the number of processors box is ticked there, please untick it.

If that doesn't help, please install and run the free utility Speccy. Send its output to a text file and attach that here, thanks.

CK2 is free to play on Steam now. It is the most similar game to this one under the covers.

If you are running GeForce Experience, try unloading that.

If you can do that, and this is reliably duplicatable across platforms as yo say, then this is a great candidate for a new Bug Reports thread as it seems clear there's nothing you or I can do to fix this for you at present.

Sorry for this problem!

No clues in those files I'm afraid.

Dos this also affect HOI4, Stellaris and CK2?

Do you ever get OOS errors? OOS logs?

Or just this lag with no actual crash or error?

Sorry, does this also affect CK2 and HOI4? Or not?

Will the game still run if you set it to:
refreshRate=60
fullScreen=yes
borderless=no
If so does that help at all?

And please try unloading all MSI utilities, and GeForce Experience if that is running.

Specifically CK2 and HOI4, which I see you also have? Because they are very similar to this game under the covers - really if one is affected they should all three be.

Please try this:

- exit the Steam app entirely
- uninstall Paradox Launcher v2 from the Windows "Apps and features" utility, if still present.

Delete the following folders if still present:

- C:/users//AppData/Local/Programs/Paradox Interactive/
- C:/users//AppData/Local/Paradox Interactive/
- C:/users//AppData/Roaming/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2/
To see the AppData folder you'll need to enable View Hidden Items in File Explorer.

- run steam.exe as the Windows Admin user

- run the game from the PLAY button in Steam

IF that doesn't help, in this folder are some .log files:
C:/users//AppData/Local/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2/
Please attach them here.

What antivirus app do you use?

Add stellaris.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.

No real idea on this one! Please do a full **clean** re-install:

Jaxus said: As for the "Game" troubleshooting, the first 3 updates were already on my rig, i just repaired the files and moved down the list. The last file seemed to be absent, as it had me go through the entire extraction/install process. Still no change whatsoever. Game will not launch, same "launcher issue updating" in the corner.
But you still see missing DLL errors, you are saying? Can we see the error exactly please?

Sounds like you have two separate issues, with the launcher and the game.

LAUNCHER: Please try this:

- exit the Steam app entirely
- uninstall Paradox Launcher v2 from the Windows "Apps and features" utility, if still present.

Delete the following folders if still present:

- C:/users//AppData/Local/Programs/Paradox Interactive/
- C:/users//AppData/Local/Paradox Interactive/
- C:/users//AppData/Roaming/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2/
To see the AppData folder you'll need to enable View Hidden Items in File Explorer.

- run steam.exe as the Windows Admin user

- run the game from the PLAY button in Steam

IF that doesn't help, in this folder are some .log files:
C:/users//AppData/Local/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2/
Please attach them here.
