Could you try launching directly via the Darktide.exe in the binaries directory, and let me know which error is displayed please?

Can anybody experiencing this error tell me which part of the world they’re playing from, please?

Could you make sure ‘IObit Malware Fighter Scan…’ is disabled prior to launching?

Could you see if you can load in after a ‘Selective Startup’, please?:

  1. Press the Windows key
  2. Type ‘msconfig’ and select ‘System Configuration’
  3. On the ‘General’ tab, select ‘Selective Startup’
  4. Deselect ‘Load Startup Items’
  5. Reboot your PC
  6. Launch as normal, and see if the issue persists

Sorry to hear this. It’s unfortunate there is no log, did you have Darktide open at the time of writing this? I ask is the log is updated on exit.

Comment

Are there any updates available for your network adapter? Please check via Device Manager → expand the ‘Network adapters’ dropdown → right-click your network adapter and select ‘Update driver’

Rest assured this is still on our radar and we’ll soon be implementing additional logging to pin this error down.

Does this occur after selecting ‘Play’ in Steam, or in the launcher?

Oh that’s a point. It might be worth seeing the log anyway!

  1. Press the Windows key + R
  2. Enter %appdata% within the search input and select ‘OK’
  3. Navigate to AppData\Roaming\Fatshark\Darktide
  4. Locate the darktide_launcher.log in this directory

Could you also upload your darktide_launcher.log please? I want to make sure the correct GPU is being used.

I think it’s best to start combating the Steam Cloud error. I recommend repairing your Steam Library Folders by:

  1. Open the Steam client
  2. Select ‘Steam’ in the upper left-hand corner
  3. Select ‘Settings’
  4. Select ‘Downloads’ within the sidebar
  5. Select ‘Steam Library Folders’
  6. Select the ‘…’ icon on the right-hand side of the screen
  7. Select ‘Repair Folder’

For Microsoft Store/Game Pass users, please make sure you are logged in to the same account as your Xbox app on the Microsoft Store app also.

Please make sure you are logged in to the same account as your Xbox app on the Microsoft Store app also. This is the primary cause of this error for Microsoft Store/Game Pass players.

Nope! Matchmaking is unaffected. You’ll be able to connect and play as normal (with hopefully, less crashes).

With 1800 replies here, I’ve decided to create a new pinned post dedicated to this issue.

We hope this will also increase visibility of the experimental branch for players that are encountering these crashes.

Tough one - all of the crash data is missing, which is an issue in itself and our developers are looking in to. It’s a complete shot in the dark other than the common solutions:
