There's also an "auto-setup action bar" option on the combat bar cog that does the same - admittedly very hidden but it's been there long as I can remember.

New players also get automatically set up for Revolution with these bars, with action bars bound to weapon types as of the Sept 2019 mobile update.

Certainly room for improvement as the meta keeps evolving, and what's optimal is situational and subjective, but used the optimal bars from the wiki at the time.

I implemented a fix for this at the end of Feb which completed QA in early March. It's awaiting copy whenever RC has capacity for it.

The login lockout postponed updates for a while, occupied a lot of the release crew, and prompted new updates to test and release (eg combat, skilling & D&D&D weeks), so there's a bit of a release backlog to work through for bugfixes that were in the pipe.

But dev-wise this is ready to go when it fits into a build.

Abandon your hope, my friend.

Vis wax is pronounced "WEES" wax.

It's a (delightfully alliterative) respectful reference to vis from the Ars Magica tabletop roleplaying system. (Which is approximately the setting's rune essence.)

Mod Raven was running a campaign (which (in my limited exposure to other people) is the most fun thing you can (legally) do with consenting adults) at the time.

The lovely Mod Deg, developer of the rune goldberg machine and fellow wizard, needed something almost but not entirely like rune essence. And thus a myriad mispronunciations were born.

Apologies for the Fandom link (and my insufferable pedantry), but it summarises the vis of origin quite nicely:

You can find the easy Varrock diary in your achievement list (the trophy tab on the far left of the above screenshot, below the selected Overview tab).

*Area Tasks* category -> *Easy Varrock* subcategory

The diary subcategories are listed in area alphabetical order, and the meta achievements within the Area Tasks category are listed in difficulty order.

While there aren't achievement paths for area task difficulty tiers (closest is the Lumbridge Explorer path, which is a combo of the beginner diary achievements in Lumbridge and some extra Lumbridge achievements salvaged from the 2011 Lumbridge Introductory Tasks tutorial), within the achievement interface you can press the little pin icon next to an achievement to add it to your activity tracker, for ease of reference. (The activity tracker has slots to track up to 5 items at once.)

Ironman sounds like what you're looking for, if the trade restrictions etc suit you.

Sick Nerd started an RS (hardcore) ironman series a few weeks ago. I'd recommend giving that a look on YouTube/Twitch - as he's also transitioning from OSRS so it would likely be a similar experience and ease into the differences.

You might also enjoy A Friend's RS Ironman series to get a feel for what it'd be like.

If ironman feels like giving up too much, as noted by others it's mostly hidden away in menus and opt-in.

And a lot of things that were pay walled (eg extra action bars, (elite) skilling outfits, or combat auras requiring loyalty points) are free or earnable ingame now.

I also find it to be very generous. You get a lot of free keys if you play regularly and I find the free Yak Track skip tokens to be plenty without needing to pay for anything extra. (Granted, I love me a rewarding grind.)

Depends also on your goals. Are you wanting to rush...

I know. Confound your magnificent chiseled jaw, Mod Osborne.

There's references to horses in external sources like the novels too. It seems like an insur-mount-able obstacle sometimes.

Unfortunately Needle Skips has lovely voice acting throughout, so I can't see that one ninjaing due to the asset dependency. Head canon suggestions welcome.

In my head canon, they're kind of into it, roleplaying as hornless unicorns - and getting paid for it to boot (or indeed hoof).

My proudest patch note from my time in Ninja. "A typo in the Karamja cart system has been corrected."

If you hover your cursor over the larger buttons on your "ribbon" (it's usually in the bottom right), you should see a vertica list of icons for the child windows in that parent window. Click the icon and the panel will go back on your screen.

Activity tracker and path window default to top-left, so one of those sounds like what you're looking for.

Activity tracker and paths are under the Hero parent (looks like a shield and sword), and quest list is under the Adventures parent (icon looks like a compass),

You can also go into the relevant parent menu by pressing its button, and drag the header of the child window you want onto your HUD from there.

ok thanks. i found the "appeal ban" section of player support. ill place an appeal.

one question though. i think i might know what happened. my razer keyboard profile was set to a profile i use for a different game and that profile has a rapid click macro on it, set to press-to-toggle.

before logging off, i was pickpocketing H.A.M. members for easy clues using the "one button gameplay" method and i had accidentally hit that macro key. it was only on for a few seconds before i realized it was pressed, but it was long enough that it took the game a good minute or two to catch up with the spam of inputs. would that have maybe tripped the system?

my theory is that maybe the "offending date" was set to when the ban was applied rather than when the offense took place and that the ban was applied while i was logged off

I'm unable to confirm or deny either way, but detecting macro usage on a device does sound like it may fall under the definition of a macroing ban.

Your explanation certainly seems more probable and less worrisome than the possibility that your account's been compromised.

Hope you get it straightened out with Support with minimal fuss!

im not sure where else to put this, so i guess ill put this here:

who do i talk to about a 2-day ban i just got with the offending time set to when i was logged off and eating dinner? like how does that even happen? the offense page says it's not appealable, but im not even sure why i got the ban in the first place

Sounds like potentially your account may have been hacked while you weren't logged in, and then used to perform a bannable offense? Potentially the time provided may also be UTC, but having no personal experience working in Player Support, I can only speculate.

Content developers are unable to assist with account issues and bans. You have to go through the Player Support ticketing system.

Thank you for compiling this information. If you haven't already, please send an ingame bug report so the issue is tracked with an actionable ticket.

My team's #1 priority is mobile release for the foreseeable future. If a ticket is available the next time I have the opportunity to investigate live issues, I'll endeavour to prioritise this one.

sorry to necro this, but i have another one for you: Crassian

is it cray-zhion or crah-see-an?

also side note, what even are they? i first encountered them during either the pirate questline or the sunken tutorial island quest (cant remember which) and my character acted like he already knew about them. i havent seen anything else ingame that talks about them besides them just being a standard trash mob in ed3. are they just some creature that im supposed to assume everyone in-universe already knows about and leave it at that?

The latter pronunciation. (Or more accurately, CRASS-ee-un.)

Crassians first appeared in the A Shadow over Ashdale quest, so that's a good place to start for backstory. (Though most of it was portrayed through environmental storytelling.)

Crassians (and the sea monsters that spawn them) have since been featured in other aquatic content such as the pirate quest finale, Beneath Cursed Tides and the shadow reef.

The work around is to open the paths interface and remove any active paths. At that point the tutorial path will appear, and can also be removed, fixing the problem.

Yeah, we have a fix ready for that mainland issue too. :)

I reported a bug in-game and described what's happening. Do you know how that system works or if they'll respond?

Hi there! I actioned a bug report yesterday that sounds very much like your issue.

Thanks to the attached savegame I was able to reproduce the problem.

(In this case it was one of the previous removed tutorial states that wasn't complete, and there was a legacy check in Home Teleport for it. Possibly the account may have started the original Tutorial Island when that was a thing. There was actually a feedback message for why you couldn't Home Teleport, but 15ish years ago the only feedback messaging system was the chat window, and that's hidden on new Tutorial Island, so that feedback wasn't visible. Fixed that too.)

A fix for the described issue is with QA - we're on the knife's edge of the RC build cutoff so cutting it close to make it into Monday's patch notes, but hopefully the following week.

Something that might work for you in the meantime... If you press the Esc key, is there a Skip Tutorial option?

Give that a try and it'll hopefull...

so its pronounced "zar"? i do remember them saying that ingame but i thought it might have just been the T sound being hard to hear or not being picked up by the mic properly. though i guess pronouncing the T would be better than the way my brother used to say it: "tah-zah-har".....i wanted to smack him when he said that XD

Indeed.

Please do Guthix's work and smack your brother for me (social distancing permitting).
