We’ve done a range of things in the past, from no polling to comparison polls to standard polling. I’m not convinced the standard method works with artwork personally, at least that’s the conclusion I’ve came to after 6 years on the product. We learnt a lot of what not to do with the Elf update, I still stand by it but wouldn’t be opposed to approaching those assets again if we are to ever venture to that part of the world in the future :)

Original is from the era of recolour-scape where asset reuse was king, much prefer the new one.
All the added details seem to be derived from the Chronicle artwork which is kind of interesting. Someone has had this idea of what he could look like in HD for over 5 years.

Indeed this was riffed off of the concept made by Mod DBarker for chronicle! We had our lovely Mod Jerv oldschool-ify it so it fit more with our current asset standards :)

I wonder how many more Summoning assets are in the game. I know the Smoke Devils are actually ripped off from Summoning assets as well.

While we had a bunch of new dogs made during our last game jam we also had a bunch left over from Summoning, essentially all the dog pets of you can remember back when that skill was released :D I think there’s a bunch of updated bird models as well which I believe are in use as well as the dreadfowl and spirit wolf

The asset Vet'ion currently uses is a recolour of an existing npc known as Ranalph Devere, it's one of the three long-dead warriors fought during the Legends' Quest. Understandably not very well known as you only see them once. It was designed to be 1x1 which is why it looks out of place when scaled up to 3x that size.

Surprising amount of reused assets honestly, I recognised at least 4-5 attacks & hazards from other bosses and parts of the game

It’s because the footage was taken before we had made the bosses projectiles, amongst other things.

Love what you’ve done with the entrance! We’ve done something similar in the nexus room, so it ties into that surprisingly well 😄 going to be a tough decision… Good luck!

I think in the future like with Justiciar and Inferno cape, yall should host design competitions and just let the community make designs. That way there is no massive backlash and it gets the community involved in a positive way. Just my 2 cents.

I think you have a valid point, coming to the player base with a single design of BiS armour/weapon is bound to split people as art is very subjective. I found the process for designing the twisted bow quite slow and tedious (I basically ran straw polls on options until we found a silhouette the majority liked) , but it may be the better route when creating prestigious items. Something to consider when we approach this next time :)

Haha, thanks 😅 Once tombs is out of the way I think it’ll be time for a nice big art stream again like we did for AKD

Hate to break it to you but it was me. Honestly, I hate whoever thought to have the MTA open up to the back of the duel arena building. Leaves no space for anything :/ maybe I’ll go back to the drawing board on this one 😅

The aim here was to have more consistent graphics throughout the UI while also squaring up the buttons so they fitted together better. The new button backing isn’t anything new though, it’s just the border of the inventory repurposed for a more consistent style. It seems to have insulted a lot of players though, so perhaps something to reconsider 😅

I hope the new ui gets changed to look more old school. The current ui buttons feel very old school, but the ones in the blog don’t and I don’t really like the look of them. Excited about the additional features though!

Define 'old school'

Yep. Wanted to change them for a while but they certainly do a good job of standing out, the irony 😅 I have a zoo of every crate in-game and the various styles, so many crate styles and I might be guilty of 2 or 3 of them…
