Will we be able to change the hotkeys for abilities in a near future update?
Not planned, but not unlikely either - it's something we've gotten a lot of feedback on and will continue to monitor.

What happened to the explosive spore pods? The ones found in the sand zone (forget the name)
Also, do you devs ever play with the community? I know I’ve seen some screenshots before, but how often?
I can't say what happened to the pods, but I can say that we'll be going back to looking seriously at our biomes relatively soon, adding and fixing and improving on them.
And quite a few of us play with the community almost daily - it's one of the best ways to get really candid feedback. :D
Hey management! Are there any plans to add different areas, or different mission types in the near future? How about different beers as well? Love the game; you all put a lot of love and thought into it and it shows! Rock and stone!
New mission types are high on our list of priorities post-launch. More beers? Not out of the question. :)
What has been the most difficult part of developing this game?
Also, far off in the future when you guys have finished drg, what other types of game would you guys like to try making?
FOR KARL!
As is most often the case with game development, it's all the "boring" stuff behind the scenes that end up taking far more time and being far more difficult than you initially thought. Networking, compatibility, matchmaking, desync issues, UI - even for a relatively simple game like DRG, it's INCREDIBLE how much time those things take to unravel, fix, and finish.
Do you plan on taking it out of early access any time soon
Yep, look out for our upcoming Roadmap Update for more specifics.
Hi all, sorry if this has been asked before.
Have you concidered making surface only biodomes/missions? Having weather effects inside the various cave biodomes has always seemed out of place to me, and makes a lot more sense for surface style missions. In any rate, surface expeditions would add a completely different flavor to the game, with tons of new baddies to kill and minerals to mine!
Cheers
Considered yes, but abandoned for the foreseeable future. It's not something you should expect for this game - all our tech is dependent on the gameplay taking place in caves, and what you ask would entail an ENORMOUS technical undertaking we are not currently geared for.
Also, the weather effects in our caves are actually not THAT far fetched. :D We've obviously exaggerated it for gameplay purposes, but things like rain (or at least extreme condensation) or wind or extreme cold are not uncommon things in caves even here on Earth.
Love the game and the Silliness it entails.
Are there any plans for some kind of additional mech/vehicle added in the future one can call down with Nitra ? Perhaps a armed mule, or a drill to go scuba deep into a cave system ? Perhaps a bosco as a engineer overclock or upgrade ?
We did some experiments along those lines a long time back, but decided to pull it for a number of reasons. It's something we'd like to experiment more with in the future though, there's a lot of potential there.
Read more1) With the new influx of players, I've sadly witnessed something I had never encountered before on DRG, on haz4 level of difficulty:
a frequent encounter of players who do not want to communicate or work with their teammates, by calling Supply Pods for their own needs only and refusing to use teamwork assets (detailed below) when gently asked, using voice comm, text chat and laser pointer on ressources (Scout = Flare Gun to illuminate large caves, and Grappling Hook to mine minerals far out of reach where I just put a platform; Engineer = Platform Gun on ceiling/high minerals)
an increasingly frequent encounter of players who do not care about other players at all, calling the Drop Pod as soon as they can (on the Mule or Minehead), despite being asked to wait multiple times before through all possible channels of communication. This include situations with downed teammates, teammates with very low HP, teammates wit...
Whoof, that's a lot to reply to, but I'll do my best. xD
Something we hope to improve on is the "Greenbeard Experience", starting from Update 29 - improved tutorial flow, and much more information available at your fingertips when needed. The upcoming Miner's Manual will hopefully be a big help towards this, as well as the improved tutorial. Teaching people to play, rather than restricting them or telling them how. We cannot police every player - but we can strive towards giving them a better understanding of what the game IS. If they are not playing cooperatively, something's gone wrong somewhere.
The "filters" you mention for marking your mission as a specific kind is an interesting one though. I'll send that on to the appropriate people. But that said, it's unclear how much that would change - you can after all name your mission whatever you want already.
Changing the rewards for mining extra minerals is dangerous business - on the one hand, as an explore...
Read moreWhat do your co-workers think of that? I love the idea!
It's been brought up, but it's technically difficult to do. There is no navmesh on the Space Rig, so getting AI to move around in there is not trivial. That said, never say never - it's something I'd love to see too.
them who else would make such technical achievement as THE CUBE ?
Who indeed.
Who is Karl?
Karl is Karl.
It's been great to see the game evolve over these past 2 years, you guys have done a great job. Looking forward to the next 2 years!
Can we get an estimate on when the experimental build for update 29 will be ready?
Extremely rough estimate that I cannot guarantee: Sometime mid-March seems likely.
One more question I forgot to ask, are there plans for mod support ? I’ve just started to get into modding and would love to try and mod a few things in the game. Thanks !
There are no current plans for official mod support, but it's something we'd love to do, including Workshop integration. Perhaps at a later date.
Loving the game, keep up the great development!
I was wondering have you ever considered adding creatures that could fuse together to make a larger more dangerous creature (depending on how many happen to spawn/be around) that has additional abilities/strengths? Like for instance, if the naedocyte shocker jellies were to fuse together (before going to attack you) to create a larger one that could either deal more damage, do an additional ranged attack/attack type, or have more damage resistance.
This could force players to target prioritize this creature type before it becomes more threatening than others.
It's an interesting idea, but not something that's currently being planned. We do want to look into more enemy types at a later date though, so nothing is off the table.
Hello GSG love your game my all time favourite! Will we be able to get turret mounts for Molly mid game that we can only spec into if we collect enough nitra etc? Also thoughts on several upgraded versions of engineers turret like in TF2?
Unlikely we'll see turrets on Molly appearing mid-game, but it's not impossible that future mission types will include something like it. I've wanted a mounted turret on Molly that a single dwarf can ride around in for a long time... :D
The Engineer's turrets might see some more love down the line, but it's unlikely anytime soon.
Will my true love barrel-karl ever be made real? It is a barrel with a badly-doodled face and a swab for a beard. And we can take it with us during missions. Maybe we can also install a speaker that we can press for inspirational quotes of the great karl? ;)
Also, I hope you guys/gals/attack pickaxes feel as awesome as you should for making this great game!
I do not think Management would approve of Barrel-Karl. It sounds...sordid.
And thank you a lot. ^^
Is there a bottom of the map? Or a top? I spent a good 45 minutes with three other drillers digging down with Rocky mountain, and got about 1000 meters down, if there isn't a bottom, tell me for peace of mind.
Only 1000 meters? And these Greenbeards call themselves dwarves...
Seriously though - technically there IS both a bottom and a top. But it's a techical limitation rather than a design on our part.
Assuming this is a galaxy where humans and elves are around, how y’all or short are the dwarves compared to them? Are they still proportionately shorter? Are they similar height?
I'd definitely say they are fantasy-dwarf sized. Around 140cm / 4'5'' in my estimate.
Why is the moderation in your Steam forums so awful? The moderator even jumps in and takes sides in the bickering, which only makes things worse.
Our Steam moderator is a volunteer that handles it in his spare time. But I'll send your comment on so we can have a closer look at your accusation.
Are there plans for more extreme or exotic looking cosmetics ?
Depends on what you mean by "extreme". I have a pretty firm stance that you'll never be able to run around with pink plastic pony heads or steampunk top hats. But anything that can fit within the STYLE of the game, I see no reason not to consider it.
