Yep, apologies we are restarting the service due to unscheduled outage

Services being restarted. This might involve connectivity issues for up to 30 minutes. You can continue to keep playing, as it will reconnect and resync just fine when services restored. Apologies for the disruption.

Intermittent issues with master server connections appear to be occurring. Team are working on it. No obvious cause, possibly similar to past outages.

17 November 2022 outage has been resolved. If still having issues, try Flushing your DNS, switch your DNS to google's, or wait for DNS record to propagate. It can take up to 24 hours at the extreme for DNS changes to make their way everywhere.

Will post updates here and merge topics.

UPDATE: 8:16PM NZST Services being restarted. This might involve connectivity issues for up to 30 minutes. You can continue to keep playing, as it will reconnect and resync just fine when services restored. Apologies for the disruption.

UPDATE: 9:16PM NZST outage still ongoing. We have to reinstall the whole backend service so it’s a bit complicated. Will keep you posted. Again, apologies team are working as hard as they can to restore.

UPDATE: 10:18PM NZST confi... Read more

It's extremely frustrating for us, and I have personally reached out to both Valve and Epic about the issue. Unfortunately, we are the ones who get blamed. I will keep putting pressure on.

In the meantime, I suggest that any game you have this issue with, raise a steam support ticket. They might close it, but perhaps the quantity might make them look at it.

The only option we really have is to abandon the use of the content packing system Epic provide as part of unreal. But this would mean the data is entirely unpacked, taking up enormous disk space and increasing load times by an incredible amount.

This situation represents a concern I have, that engine manufacturers and digital stores aren't blamed for issues with their part in providing products - and therefore, they aren't incentivized to solve the issues.

It is something we want to do (but haven't confirmed), @aaron if you have controller change suggestions or things that would help let me know. You can email me at [email protected]

Note: I deleted one reply in this thread that stated the game was "abandoned" and only focusing on singleplayer, as this is untrue and very unhelpful - especially to users having trouble.

I will post the warning issued here for transparency:
Please do note post false information that misleads players. Posting in a thread that a user is looking for help with bugs and issues is very disruptive to that user. I have deleted your post. Please read the steam community guidelines. Opinion is fine, but derailing others threads is very disruptive and creates a toxic environment.

Current state is the game is sensitive to network adapter settings. Making sure the external network adapter is set as default (and potentially others disabled) maximizes chances of success, along with port forwarding.

We have several team members are devoted to redeveloping how network connections are made, and afterwards will be looking at reimplementing steam peer-to-peer.

I posted this reply in another comment, which describes what we are working on as a solution for those having connection issues:
Originally posted by Rocket: We redeveloped the entire multiplayer messaging system (how you receive a synchronized state in multiplayer), and it's been enormously successful in that regard with reduced memory usage (memory cleanup causes the dreaded stuttering), bandwidth usage, and increased performance (singleplayer used to always run as a host, and send itself messages).

However, we are still ...

Note there is no current system that deletes prospects after 90 real-world days.

We have, however, issued a warning that at some point in future prospects might be deleted after 90 real-world days of inactivity so that, in future, we don't have to store data indefinitely as data storage is not free and the project was not intended to have very significant amounts of data stored indefinitely.

So to confirm, the 90-day is simply an indication that at a future time it is possible that prospects not accessed outside 90 real-world days are not guaranteed to always be on the server forever.

As another poster noted, with decentralization even this potential issue will not exist.

Most of our team works on performance optimizations, as well as working with Intel and Nvidia directly so their drivers can be approved. Some tasks take longer than others, so some weeks will have more performance optimizations than others.

Note that this weeks update actually includes quite a few optimizations. You can read the specific details of this in the latest steam announcement, which details what is in the weekly update.

It's been a hectic few months for us since our major refactor as we feel like we have finally been able to hit our old stride in the project. If you look back through our weekly updates you can see how spending that period to time to redo the project has paid huge dividends. We are now able to more robustly focus on the future of the game as well as add new content.

We've been a little slow at getting new content in over the last weeks, as we have been laser focused on fixing bugs - especially some very serious ones introduced (or highlighted) by our refactoring work. What really spurs us on is seeing all those amazing youtube videos of your content, the twitch streams, and the thoughts you share here and on discord.

Important fix for multiplayer Fixed not being able to join servers unless they were being advertised. We don't normally highlight bug fixes but this was affecting a significant number of people over the last few days. Th...

I've gone through your post history and I can't find any posts that were deleted.

There was recently some moderation by a valve employee on one of our news posts that removed a bunch of comments that were related to political posts etc... but none of your posts were affected.

Do note that you need to adhere to steam community guidelines, that includes not insulting anyone or inciting any flame wars. While going through your posts looking for any that might have been deleted, I saw a lot of posts that break the steam community guidelines.

While you are welcome and encouraged to provide your opinion, you must do so in a way that is not disruptive and does not put down others. Calling people "children" is a good example of this. I've issued warnings for these.

Note you already have a warning for this previously.

If you have a link any missing topic, feel free to let me know at ... Read more

Only forty permanent bans have been issued on this forum. Which is quite a small number considering the quantity of posts.

The the reference ban was provided without a ban reason; which is against our own internal instructions so I reversed it. Bans are a last resort and require their ban reason to be genuine, and provided at the time of the ban.

As such, I reversed the ban.

As we head towards the atmospheric changes that we discussed previously there is new content we want that lays the groundwork. This week is an example of that. The Nitrolizer extends the ability to get nitrogen oxide, which you can be used to make even hotter fires.

We've also continued to work very closely with the community, both here in steam and on discord, to identify and fix serious issues both with the base game and particularly with dedicated servers. As always you will see these efforts continue front and center with each of our updates. Please do reach out to us via these channels. While we are not always able to get issues fixed immediately, we can always use your experiences to frame out how to fix them in future.

New Content: The Nitrolizer

Reinstal from fresh does not help. Not removing files on hard drive, to do not loose saved games.

It looks like an edge case where discord's API is causing an exception because it is open but not logged in. I'll fix for next update. For now, try running the game with discord logged in or not running. Sorry about that!

Yes because some changes for clients listening on multiple network adapters were rolled back till we could test more, as it was breaking things for many.

Now the game will use the network adapter issued by the OS for the client, which will be your default one. You can change the priority of the adapter in network settings.

Another option get the local ip issued by the hamachi adapter. Then go into the game setting.xml file, change (or add) a new field called LocalIpAdress which is that IP. You only need to do this for the clients. This will force the clients to connect via the hamachi network

There is an edge case that if the atmosphere inside is very similar to the atmosphere outside, it will be considered a storm currently. So to solve this, pump the atmosphere out of the room and it should work fine until we can solve the issue.
