This is a technical limitation, not a design decision. We’ll be changing this in future.

Additional data centres are now in use now in Europe. If a download is ongoing, you’ll need to restart the Launcher to notice any improvement. The download will continue from where it is currently. (It will show as 0% complete, however the total download size will be smaller.)

So, the way Last Epoch works is that everyone has a Last Epoch account which has both an e-mail address and a password as its credentials. When the game is installed through Steam, Steam will remember those log in credentials for convenience.
As both an e-mail address and password can be changed, upon log in failure Steam will discard the credentials it had remembered so that new ones can be input (and remembered). What likely happened here is that you attempted to log in during recent maintenance, and Steam saw the failed log in attempt so ‘forgot’ your e-mail & password.
The same e-mail address and password you used to log into the website should work in the game client. If you’re unable to log in, try using our Reset Password tool.
