Reflecting on the past year.

Thank you for another great year in the Unturned community! We have now been out of early access (4 years) for longer than the early access period (3 years)! This past year saw 35 updates bringing a variety of major content and features to the game:

We no longer support VR map editing on the latest Unturned build (and haven't for years), but this cosmetic item is still obtainable through registering other certain VR games/apps on your Steam account. You could probably deduce the specific game that granted you the item, if you look at your recent game activations/purchases.

This page contains various sections. If you're inexperienced with modding, just focus on the section about master bundles – the other information is generally not going to apply to you, and are not that important. Content bundles are deprecated and documentation is only kept for legacy support, and individual asset bundles are just an alternative for people needing a quicker iteration time during a fast development cycle.

Yes. The console ports of Unturned have been updated a few times since their release. The last major update added the Groups feature.

Yes – to customize settings like max players or server name to something other than the default, you will still need to use the Commands.dat file.

Multiple devices can utilize forwarded ports on the same network, just not the same ports at the same time. If you can't use port 27015, then choose a different starting port (e.g., 27018).

Generally, no. The Commands.dat file is one of two configuration files for server settings, but it is not instrumental in setting up an Internet server instead of a LAN server. The only relevant part of the Commands.dat file would be if you were to use a different starting port than the default (the default is 27015), or if you have a multi-router setup in which case you may need to bind a specific IP (this does not apply to a vast majority of people).

Nothing has changed regarding the default ports that need to be forwarded (which are still 27015, 27016, and 27017). If you knew how to port forward three years ago, you should still be find. If not. refer to: ...

Depends on which iteration. The precursor to Unturned is a Roblox game called Deadzone, which came out before Rust.

Unturned first began in 2013 as a browser game, and was the spiritual successor to Deadzone. It also came out before Rust.

The Steam version of Unturned came out in 2014. Rust was already available on Steam. Both games were in early access.

Unturned left early access in 2017, and Rust in 2018. These are the dates shown on Steam's store pages.

I personally don't think Deadzone counts, and instead start from the browser iteration of Unturned, when talking about dates. It really doesn't matter much to me anyways though. Facepunch does some cool stuff!
