In 1983, 38 years ago, the AMX-40 was revealed for the first time. Intended for export, the tank had light armor and good mobility with heavy firepower. Unfortunately, like export models before it, the tank failed to find potential buyers and had its program shut down in 1990.

In January 1948, 73 years ago, the Lavochkin La-15 made its first flight. The La-15 was a competitor to the MiG-15 - however the MiG-15 was the favored fighter. Due to this, already built La-15's engines were taken out and put into the KS-1 Komet. The La-15 saw no active combat.
In January 1963, 57 years ago, the Vickers MBT made its first appearance. Vickers designed this tank to be export - being low cost, having an L7 gun and being lightly armored. India was the biggest user - they built 2,200 Vijayanta's, a licensed built version of the Vickers MBT.

79 years ago, the StuG III G appeared for the first time. Often referred to as the "pig-head", the G variant was the main production variant of the StuG, featuring special 80 mm frontal plates of appliqué armor. More than 8,000 G variants were built in 3 years.
77 years ago, the Bristol Brigand flew for the first time. The Brigand was developed to replace the Beaufighter, and first saw combat in Malaya in 1949. It successfully supported troops on the ground with its ground attack capabilities. 147 Brigands were built.
87 years ago, the Do 17 took flight for the first time. The plane saw use in all major theaters in the early years of WWII under the roles of reconnaissance, night fighter, and bomber. No surviving examples were thought to exist until a discovery in England in 2007.

78 years ago, the M5A1 Stuart appeared for the first time. An upgrade from the M3 Stuart, the M5A1 had a sloped upper front plate and a better engine. M5A1 combat is seen in Tunisia, Sicily, Normandy, Germany & the Pacific - with over 6,000 M5A1's produced.
