I'm sorry it came across this way. The intention was to be clear and upfront with the reasoning. Obviously, a video game's 'economy' is not the same as something like a country's economy - the term simply references the fact that we use currencies which players can exchange for items, and the use of 'inflation' means that the supply of doubloons available to players from events like Anniversary has been increasing, which we're now dialing back. As the game gets older, more players acquire greater number of TX ships.
Please let me know if there's anything I can clarify for this, and of course we're looking for your guys' feedback on this. Like I said earlier in the thread, please let us know if you think anything in the new drop table should be adjusted, as the intention is to minimally affect the 'normal' income of supercontainers.

I appreciate the feedback on this, guys. I see some confusion in here as to the doubloon 'economy' and 'inflation' - the use of those terms in the Devblog really just refers to the fact that the amount of doubloons available to players for free through events such as the Anniversary has been steadily increasing over the years, and we're looking to dial it back without affecting the 'normal' Supercontainer income. The latest revisions removed the standard (grey) boosters from the planned changes; if there's other things about the new drop table that you think should get looked at, please let us know.

Thanks for bringing this up - you're correct that it seems like the nation they're assigned to isn't in writing in the armory. Do note that if you hover over the commander, the flag will be in the background, but I can see how that could get easily missed.

Have you re-researched each ship from TV-X and played a game on them? The points are not credited immediately on resetting the line. If you have, please send me the ticket number and I can keep an eye on it for you.

Comment

Respectfully, I don't think that's a valid comparison and I don't see it as a ripoff. You can use essentially every grindable resource in the game in any combination to discount the price of the ship, up to getting it for free. I think that's more than reasonable given premium ships are often money/doubloon only, or available for only one resource.

Comment

Think of it as essentially a 'premium' conversion for one resource to another.

Comment

I'm sorry you guys feel this way about the event. I was personally looking forward to it since I felt that premiums being available for purchase through any combination of grindable currencies would be a nice opportunity. I take your point on the exchange rates, but please remember that is primarily a way for players who have an excess of one resource to get others that they have far less of - which previously hasn't been possible.

Comment

Yes, the ships are more expensive than usual if you are buying them 'straight up' with one resource. However, the whole idea behind the event is that you can use any combination of resources, including credits. It seems fair to me that players can use whichever resources they'd like to get a 'discount' on the ship purchases. It's also the first time I can recall that resources have been directly convertible to others (except steel to coal, when buying coal items).

Doubloons are still in the new version of Supercontainer. There are still Free-to-Play methods to attain the currency, but the Anniversary Event provided a rather large availability in a short timeframe.

This seems a strange comment to make. It looks like your requesting the removal of the above, which I don't know if you'll find anyone else to agree with you on.

One fundamental difference with what you've cited is that it's paced over the duration of an Update cycle, which is many weeks. The Anniversary Event is one Update out of the many the occur over a year.

We are a Free-to-Play game and do provide Premium Ships in events with some regularity. Events are limited time by nature and we do use our in-game content in a variety of ways to support them.

A new DevBlog dropped today which announced that:

Grey EcoBonuses will not be added to Supercontainers

1,500 Doubloons will be awarded as compensation if a Ship Group is rolled but the player has all the possible ships.

The first part has been heavily requested after the initial change announcement. The second was also brought up as an issue, though few players will have all the ships a Supercontainer could drop (so it's a fairly niche point).

We also released our reasoning for why the change is occurring:

In the reasoning section, "doubloon inflation" is mentioned and a lot of players are asking what that means? Doubloons are an artificial currency, so... inflation? Really?

Let's look at the Drop Rate for the Supercontainer in the DevBlog:

4% chance of 1,000 Doubloons. That translates to an expectation that 1 o...

It's a resource exchange. You can convert Credits into Coal, or Commander XP into something else.

Typically in conversions like these, there's not a 1:1 ratio as a player is deciding to convert what they don't value (or have an excess of) into what they do value.

Also, there are ships available for whatever resource you would like to use to attain them with.

The conditional advantage of Hydro is that something be close enough to interact with the Hydro. In the absense of that, there was no advantage, though it is nice to know that it's there should it be needed.

I will say it's strange to read something saying that current non-buffed levels of AA are doing fine. Still, a player doesn't choose what level of CV player they are matched against, so if you prefer to be more independant in your positioning than DFAA can be well-suited for providing you comfort in doing that. If it's not needed, that's great. Hydro can similarly be not needed, which is also great (as it means your team is controlling the situation enough to free you of concern).

The "PvE skill check" likely refers to Flak, but it's not correct to focus on Flak damage just because it's a large damage number. Flak does have the possibility of dealing immense damage and stopping a squadron, but as has been repeated many times it's not something to expect or bet on. Personally, I think of Flak as a Critical Hit mechanic akin to each Flak puff providing a 1% chance of providing a large amount of damage, so 10 flak might equate to a ~10% chance of occurrence as an easy short-hand expectation.

Continuous Damage stacks multiplicatively. A Cruiser that has no DFAA, no flags, no skills, no upgrades can at most reach 150% output. A Cruiser that has DFAA, Flag, Skills, and a Slot 6 Upgrade for "all-in commitment" reaches up to 380% output. It's a 2.5 fold increase even without Flak ever touching an enemy plane.

Given the above range, if attacking an unspec'd Cruiser that costs 1.5 planes to strike there's an expectation of being str...

In case you were assuming the player was the channel owner, the video is a match from this player: https://wows-numbers.com/player/514647997,Animalul2012/

What percentage of the total CV-playing population do you think that is?
