Thank you all so so SO much for taking the time to share all your kind, heartfelt words with us <3 it means the world to our team to see all of the passion around Ashes of Creation!

We love the doodles too! So far our team's favorites seem to be "sizzling good" and "flip floppin' awesome" - but we also have a soft spot for Roger the Rock ;)

I think as long as there aren't tavern slot machines I'll be happy c:

IMO it really depends on what your machine can handle. I have an 2k 100hz ultrawide I use almost exclusively for MMOs. I used to use a 60hz 4k HDR one before that and I have a 144hz 2k 1ms for fps games.

Unless you play a lot of FPS games, refresh rate doesn't matter that much. I'd focus more on resolution, brightness and display size :)

I can't recommend ultrawide enough though. Once I made the switch, it was a total gamechanger for MMOs. I'd shoot for 120hz+ if you can, and 2k is fine but 4k would be very nice :) budget is obviously a big variable lol.

Good luck on your search!

Depends on the depth of the options. I recall spending about an hour on BDO per character, but I can easily pick a "good enough" option on games like WoW that have much simpler systems.

What are the tools you like to have available when you’re building your character?

This might be a hot take for the MMORPG community, but I don't really care what "tools" I have, as long as my tools feel fair. I feel more pressured to make the "right" character in complex systems, and I'll honestly spend more time on these systems out of obligation to have a respectable-looking character than I will out of the passion of creating something unique. I am totally fine with "good enough" systems; I'll be more invested in my armor than my face, anyway.

Do you focus on race/class synergy, looking good, or something else entirely?

This was an interesting tangent that came up elsewhere as well! Some folks noted that if they like to get heavily detailed in the character creator, they also tend to like to have their helmet toggled off to show off their hard work - whereas others preferred for their armor to look coolest, so they seemed to care less about their face.

Sounds like you're more on team armor vs. team face?

I do look forward to the future in which we get to see and test more archetypes and secondary archetypes!

I can't wait to have a better idea of what my Bladedancer will look like :) I personally don't mind taking a hit in damage output if it means I can then have more support abilities!

Glorious Ashes community - it's time for another Dev Discussion! Dev Discussion topics are kind of like a "reverse Q&A" - rather than you asking us questions about Ashes of Creation, we want to ask YOU what your thoughts are.

Our design team has compiled a list of burning questions we'd love to get your feedback on regarding gameplay, your past MMO experiences, and more. Join in on the Dev Discussion and share what makes gaming special to you!

Your idea is very neat OP! I know next to nothing about what it would take to put it into the game (though I imagine it would be quite a bit of work and take quite a lot of time) but languages in other RPGs and MMOs has always been very interesting to me as well :)

I think powerful monster patrols are an easy way to make questing more dynamic. Old MMOs used to do this. If you accidentally aggro'd a patrol while fighting something, it could mean certain death.

On that topic, I just really hope they make the open world dangerous in general. It seems like every game now is a total face roll, where it is impossible to lose. I played the New World beta recently, and that game had the same problem. Not once was I challenged during solo PvE. Quite boring.

What are some of your other favorite ways to feel "danger" in the open world? Whether it be mobs, other players, environmental factors, or something else entirely?
