I'm not a fan of the idea of backgrounds, either. If they provide some mechanical benefit, there will inevitably be some "best" choice for archetype x. I think it's bad design to lock players into a choice they were forced to make when they didn't understand the game.

What would make you like the background system more? Perhaps besides simply less of a mechanical importance? Also, awesome thought-starter in your OP <3

The Node Wars demo is just as pre-recorded as the Tower of Carphin Demo.

then why do they look like completely different games?, obviously i know it was pre recorded in the fact that it wasn't live but i don't think they were recorded on the same engine

Because they're different locations with completely different lighting due to in-game variables? The Carphin video is in a heavily corrupted area with different environmental lighting. Overall they look like the same game. There are a few other differences like having the camera zoomed out more in the Node wars demo and they may have some graphics settings reduced because of performance issues (the game is still unoptimized), but they are clearly both footage from the same game...

For example, you could provide examples of abilities with cleave that you like or dislike, or perhaps specific examples from Ashes of Creation you wish worked differently and how/why.

Lore implications make the suggestion an interesting one to discuss, not to mention tutorial/starting areas being somewhat contentious! What are some immersive starting experiences that you felt helped you not only get into the game, but helped you learn the basics too? Alternatively, if you don't at all want something like this, why? Have you experienced something else you liked more?

Hey guys I know a lot of us bought the latest cosmetic packs not necessarily because we liked the cosmetics but because it was the last cosmetic packs being sold which included a ton of cool goodies. I know there's also a lot of us that might have heard about Ashes of Creation late into its development and might not have had the change to buy a prior pack with cosmetics that match us better, there's also a possibility of people buying a kit very early in development and a new package might have come along the way that they might have preferred... Do you guys think it would be cool if intrepid gave us a 1 Time use token to exchange our cosmetic package with another one since they are the same value? I'm personally a big transmog fan and the appearance of my character is really important for me and there's nothing that takes me out of the game more then seeing the perfect armor set for my character on another player, googling the set ...
