We are seeing this in the beta version of the launcher, 2021.7 . If that's what you have opt out of that back to the normal 2021.6 version for the time being. Thanks.

You have never been able to download games from our store.

As you bought from our store you access this game either via the Steam client or our own standalone client (aka launcher v1).

I see you also have HOI4 from us, but that cannot be got via the Paradox client, only Steam.

All the best!

Well, that's really a Windows administration task, which we are not well suited to provide guidance on. Have you tried searching the MS support site? Presumably they have a process for that.

First I've heard of this issue. Is this just a standard USB mouse or something fancy?

Does it happen in CK2 and EU4 also?

Does it matter if you are in fullScreen or windowed display mode?

We are seeing this under the beta launcher 2021.7 . Please opt out of that back to the non-beta one 2021.6

Good luck with that! I'll be here if we can help any further then.

I see no reason why the game would not start from the launcher now. Please do a full **clean** re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "uninstall" in Steam-CK3
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/CK3 AND Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3 folders
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- add CK3.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.
- start the game with no mods active and test

In particular make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam CK3 or Documents CK3 locations, before installing again.

I hope that does it!

Sorry, I thought that question was connected to the G-Sync issue.

I frankly don't know much about G-Sync. Is that something you can ask nVidia about, why a game would or would not be able to use it?

That is correct, yes. More modern games are coming out like that, no true fullScreen mode at all.

If those don't help:
DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file ... Read more

Unfortunately launcher logs do not record why the game does not start, only launcher issues.

All those .exe files are now in the Ransomware Apps Allowed Through list, is that right? Do you mind if we see a screenshot showing that?

If that's not the issue, try setting dowser.exe , bootsyrapper-v2.exe and Paradox Launcher.exe. to run as the Windows Admin user. And check that ck3.exe is NOT set to run as admin!

Yes please.

Assuming it does not launch the game though, make sure you have all these in the WD Ransomware Apps Allowed Through list:

ck3.exe (in the Steam CK3/binaries folder)
dowser.exe (in the Steam CK3/launcher folder)
C:/users//AppData/Local/Programs/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2.2021.6/paradox launcher.exe
C:/users//AppData/Local/Programs/Paradox Interactive/bootstrapper-v2.exe

Good luck!

I see you've already logged a ZenDesk ticket on this.

Thanks, but that doesn't help us here as there's no way of connecting those submitted crashes to any particular user. And of course if this is not a game problem, as I suspect, there is nothing the devs can do about it anyway.

Interesting that the symptoms keep changing somewhat. That can point to a hardware problem.

Plus we have some Windows problem preventing all its updates from installing. A bit of a mess all round it seems!

You still have the fans running hard to keep the temps down, is that right? Even with that you might want to get that looked into, as it shouldn't be like that.

Do you have a source of Windows support to get the update issue looked into?

No apparent errors or problems in those files. Are they from 2021.6 or the 2021.7 beta?

I'd like us to only work on the problem under 2021.6 if that's okay, as I'm beginning to suspect there's a problem with the beta causing the settings issue.

So in 2021.6 you hit PLAy in the launcher and just get the red triangle error, is that right? If so have you now located C:/users//AppData/Local/Programs/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2.2021.6/paradox launcher.exe ?

That's only saying that you had the restart, it doesn't say why. There was nothing else in the viewer in the few minutes before that?

In that case you are all set to report this to the developers!

Please make a new thread in Bug Reports and attach the problem save file there, and anything that QA need to do to trigger the crash.

Then just put that save aside and try it again when you see new updates come out for the game (probably not until August).

Sorry for that problem!

That Windows error means the folder you are deleting is not empty. If you can't delete the files in a folder something is very wrong here!

One possible workaround to that is renaming the parent folder instead.

What antivirus app do you use? Maybe it is getting in the way here.

Just so you know, uploading the crash data will not get you an individual response or fix. Those reports are aggregated and anonymised for the purpose of determining general problems, rather than being an individual help facility.

Is this crash reproducible from a particular save file? Any mods in use?

Okay then, it seems the issue is not in the video/graphics area.

Has this game ever run on this machine? Or never yet?

I see you have CK2, does that work?

If you make a second user account in Windows and log into this machine as that, will the game run then?
